Does anyone here meditate? I’ve just bought a lovely meditation cushion and it’s made all the difference

Are you self guided or do you listen to a guided track?

I try my best to meditate but I have such a fidgety mind, I tend to struggle loads. My yogi teacher helps with guided meditation, which helps. She thought me a few tricks, like counting 1-10 and if your mind starts to wander you start again from 1.

Best way Is to control breathing, find a right position , and either with eyes closed or a look at a candle..

Secret hideaway in the pennines

When everything went tits up at the beginning of the year, I started to meditate, to help with stress and anxiety, more to center myself than anything else I used passive Qigong which is more fixed around mind and healing energies, it's all about focus in your inside till all you hear is your breathing

I’m a terrible brain fidget and I still struggle now!! I’ve found that by acknowledging the thought and letting it pass has been more helpful than trying to fight it

The right place

I do meditate and also practice mindfulness. I find mindful walking particularly helpful.

Mindfulness and gratitude on waking has been the best practice I’ve ever learnt

Defragmenting your mind makes total sense, I've dabbled with meditation but I've never mastered it. The Buddhists are so chilled and are able to just be, like all things though it takes time and patience.

The deeper the breath, the deeper the intake of life the Buddhist say.

It’s normal but yeah, it screws up the pursuit of a quiet mind! Accept the thought, acknowledge it and tell it to fuck off hahs

It’s harder to master than it seems but it’s so worth the perseverance IMO

In my former life I used to teach improvers classes at a meditation centre. It really is a game changer if you're needing balance and harmony.

I don't practice regularly any more, for many reasons, I do intensive sessions occasionally though, and still find I can reach very high levels of consciousness in a short space of time. It keeps me centred.

I’ve done Qigong and Dan-tien breathing for many many years. I prefer it to zen meditations. As well as healing you can harness a lot of power and focus your energy, especially if you fast or eat vegan/sativic diet

Odd how a quiet mind senses breathing?

Gurdjieff, quotes you should quieten you mind by a second a week.

Not easy.

On the flip side getting beyond conscious thought, Micheal Horners shamanic double drumming is good.

It creates a journey for you, exploring falsehoods (pretend animal guides) until you find your spirt guide.

Oddly calming. Plus it opens up a subconscious almost mediation safe space.

Cannot think of the drumming frequency (think it is 120-130 bears per minute) that overcomes conscious thoughts.

From the land of haribos.

I mediate and I do it everyday. I like to listen to gayatri mantras when I do it and as well when I do it. I practise deep breathing and concentrating on the chakra, the 3rd eye, so far I can breath out for about 20 seconds, it is fun

Lost me a tad with this.

Listening, concentrating, doesn’t equate to clearing the mind.

Funny feeling I might have got this wrong.

Yes, you can do different things like this when meditating too, it goes hand in hand

Dan-tien is spot on - nice to know there are others around into this...
