I play slide guitar 3 string and 6 , presently I’m using a micro cube plus have a cube EX street which I can pre amp through a Yamaha 400 PAS . It’s a decent rig and I have no immediate neighbours so I can crank it up a bit , not sure I’m getting the right sound though

Been looking at a Marshall Valvestate 8080 ( quite cheap second hand ) also a VOX AC30 ( not so cheap second hand )

Any suggestions?

What are you pushing air with , and how loud can you go ?

What sound are you looking for?

Blackstar are generally good. Dirty, fat, loud and satisfying

Be careful with the synth stuff, the sound never seems to lose it's fakeness

Kemper all the way. You can play any amp you like after you profile it.

I pass a shop on my works travels that’s sells nothing but second hand guitars and old valve amps. They are quite happy for you to pop in for a plug and play. My ex used to spend hours in there

I'm coveting a Blackstar HT-5R Mk II. I tried it in a shop and my Strat sounds amazing through both the clean and distorted channels. Luke

If you have been looking at an AC30, i'd highly recommend you have a good look look at and a long demo of the Orange OR50. Depending on what you like playing, it has the ability to bring out the best of a practice or performance. It's easily on par with the AC30, in my opinion it's better.

After trying a few amps I now have a basic Peavey with a single 12" speaker but have the Roland GR55 synth so it emulates any amp you could imagine just without the moving air you mention.

Orange Thunderverb 50h with a Jim Root 2x12 loaded with sound of the world speakers. Guitar wise I switch between a couple of Les Pauls depending on turnings and my favourite, my baby is my PRS C6R SE Corvette

I just play in the house these days so don't need big or loud, and a Vox AC4TV is more than enough. Quarter-watt setting is ideal for the valve-driven filth and the full power setting for keeping it clean (and loud).

I was sceptical that a modern repro could sound convincingly Voxy but it really does, it has all that chiming mid and top you want, and pushed into breakup sounds exactly like you'd expect an EL84 driven amp to sound.

When I plug in, I am going through an AC 15 modelling amp. But I have often thought that just a most simple and basic 2 channel amp would better serve me. Any effects would go straight into the signal line on channel 2.

Depends on what I'm playing.

I like small tube amps for recording and my Bugera T5 fits my needs for blues and classic rock perfectly. It's super simple and takes pedals beautifully. The fact it has a built in attenuator is just icing on the cake and I can drive the power amp even at 0.5w.

For live stuff I'm mostly using modellers. Either the Kemper or Axe FX 3 are my backbones.

I also build my own guitars so they play exactly how I want them to.
