Scientists claim they can predict early signs of dementia with 93% success by putting a little black box in your car and analysing your driving.

couple, us we him her.

It was a news story on the BBC earlier in the week, actually very interesting saying that by having a GPS tracker fitted to the car they can analyse the data from this they have found evidence that they can identify key indicators of early onset dementia due to the changes in driving style.

Very interesting and a total game changer if it turns out to be accurate.

Can believe it. Have watched when they test someone's driving when they've been diagnosed with dementia.

My father became a menace on the road and recently was diagnosed with mixed dementia. Yes, a sample size of 1, but his driving was exactly as described in a BBC news article I read on the topic. Very glad we persuaded him to stop driving last summer.

So back to the point.. people with early dementia can be diagnosed by their driving habits

Interesting as my father who was a car guy and brilliant driver lost his confidence in driving about 3 years before being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s

Thought this was an idea for a new sport at first.

I don't think it'll catch on

Mine was similar, guessing they all are though, think it's something to do with routine and not needing to think much about what you are doing/where you are going and then the brain throwing a wobbler.

They did try getting it set up as a competitive motorsport but all the entrants couldn't remember where they were going on the way and it just got dropped.

Haven’t seen the article in question, would be interested to know what the observations were Tom.
