You have more than enough for yourself, family and friends and...

You are a giving, kind person.

What are your priorities - how would you help others?

Would it be a local charity, a neighbour or are you more a strategic thinker and consider global issues such as a fairer distribution of water. food and medicines across the world?

How can you and your wealth best be used to help others?

(Opening a new swinging club in a beautiful sunny island is NOT what I have in mind!!)

Sort my friends and family first. Nothing too extravagant or show offy, just somewhere comfortable they could afford to run and maintain without the worry of a mortgage or rent looming.

I'd build decent homes for those escaping domestic abuse, with security and a "one stop shop" for all their support and advice needs. A little bit like Veteran Street, a community that can also support and guide each other. I'd also try to incorporate an animal rescue area into it too, so those feeling wounded can bond with the animals and have a sense of purpose and realise they do have worth and are needed.

Dog Sanctuary

I'm jumping on board with this idea. Family first, then a dog sanctuary and then some other stuff if I can find time away from playing with all the puppies!

There are a number of causes that have meaning for me that I'd want to help and include the hospice that looked after Mum so wonderfully and the cat park in Paphos that does so much for the local (often neglected and treated like vermin) cats - but I'd not want to just hand them the money, rather sit down with them and understand what was needed, and what was a priority and how I could provide support beyond just financially.

Beyond those causes I think I'd want to sit back and research where I could best provide help both here in the UK and overseas and where the most benefit could be gained for the better of the majority.

(more of this please and less of the dribble and look at me threads)

Family I would by bonds for the kids

Friends I would set an equal amount

Donate money to homeless shelters

Donate money to any startup company that solves and produces clean energy

Buy land and my dream to have an basement to hold cars and a gym and a studio. Nothing huge I'm just one person

Damn my list would be long

I need to rethink this.. I will be back

Definitely something local, avoid the political as much as possible and concentrate on practical solutions.

Expanding on what others have said I'd open a sanctuary for all animals but one where traumatised people could also come and get specialist treatment and rehab. The positive effects of close contact with animals on victims of abuse, torture, etc is well established. I also read recently how prisoners who were given dogs to look after had much higher rates of rehabilitation.

That sounds amazing. My dog is a retired therapy dog and worked wonders for many people.

I asked the question myself (which is why I then thought I d share it with you).

It is actually quite tough to prioritise and I would agree with those who want to do something local, be it the homeless , be it a dog charity or whatever. It is almost impossible to decide who needs our help most, isn't it? I rate animals' needs as important as human needs for they cannot help themselves when abused for example.

Then there are the awful, heart-wrenching pictures of starving people all over the world. Then those of war-torn countries like Syria with such a rich history - all but destroyed and the poor people who have lived in camps for so long.

For me, putting an end to starvation, providing clean water and adequate medical care everywhere would be a priority - regardless of the regime that has cause or contributed to the misery.

And yet, we see children starving, living below the poverty line right here.

We see homeless people... right here.

We see domestic abuse ... right here.

I agree with the poster who sat not to just give money but to understand what is needed and develop a strategy with those in need.

I would support my local community, make those donations in a way that they'd have the biggest impact. Funding a domestic abuse centre would have far wider positive scope than paying off a couple of mortgages

Yes ! I work in healthcare and therapy dogs do wonders for many patients.

I'd like to expand on some of the work I already do. And that's encouraging and exposing kids from disadvantaged areas to do what they love. And that people from the same background as them have succeeded.

I used to go out to schools to give talks show kids some science. Comments I'd get you sound like us, you came from around here? You're a girl and you do science though?

I'd love to send people from different industries to schools from the areas they are from especially deprived ones. And show kids you can smash that ceiling. I'd also love to send kids from disadvantaged areas on internships that their parents couldn't afford, thereby leveling the playing field a little bit.

Would also mention adult literacy which I used to help with as a volunteer. Opens the door to so many other opportunities and improved confidence.

Firstly, I would help my neighbour bring his house up to standard

He has some learning difficulties and the house was inherited

Nothing has been done to it for years

All the other neighbours get at him cos he doesn't view life as we do

Of course, when it is done up my house will be more saleable

So helping him helps me to move quicker and build that swingers resort on the desert island

I'd set up something for the homeless. I'd like to fund a housing development aimed specifically in providing homeless people a step back to getting their lives back and help them gain opportunities

I think I would choose lots of local charities.

There's a veteran outreach service, women's domestic violence charity and a cat rescue or 2.

Plus I'd give money to all the schools my son went to because they never seem to have enough!
