Mattress Recommendations

Maybe a bit off the usual topics but I'm moving into my first flat and am having trouble deciding on a mattress. Ideally my mattress will be medium firm to firm...I don't like soft mattresses. It'll also not get too hot at night if it's foam. But the key thing I'd like is for it be rolled so it's easy to transport in the car and carry up to my new flat. So, any recommendations?

If you got a spring mattress - the more pockets, the better it will be.

You could do worse then check out Ikea. They come in a sausage roll and the more expensive of their range are. Not too bad at all for the price.

Go into shop untired. Try them out and lay on them for a good few minutes. That was John Lewis recommendation.

Depends on what your budget is really. The one I was on about costs about £300, is easily rolled up and you could probably carry it on your shoulders while running a marathon

Don’t fall for these scam mattress in a box companies. Simba, Emma, just to name 2 off the top of my head.

They basically take a £500 mattress where £400 is spent on marketing and £50 spent on making it for a £50 profit.

Go to an actual bed shop and you’ll notice you know none of the brands. That’s because they take a £500 mattress and spend £400 making it, instead of just advertising.

Also when you say affordable, remember, there’s nothing you use more than your mattress. 7-8 hours a day, daily. Nothing comes close. So get a good one.

You think a mattress that sells for £500 costs the retailer £400 lol as if. After deducting the VAT they would be making around £16. They will be working on 2.2-2.6 mark up.

"Ive got a dreams it fantastic so so comfy "

We actually bought our last mattress from Dreams. I actually Find it very difficult to lay on the beds on display though and decide what I think is comfy or not. Mrs Nuru picked our last one, think it was about £1300 which was most we had ever spent on a mattress. Probably needs changing now though as we’ve had it a few years.

I tried a simba, it was a lovely mattress but I’ve had spine surgery and need more support so had to return it and get an orthopaedic one.

Simba have an official shop on eBay for mattress at really good prices, their customer service is outstanding

Should have added, as though I thought it was a little obvious, I’m just pulling the numbers out of thin air to make a point.

The point being

Don’t fall for these companies that spend millions on marketing to sell you a sub-standard product.

"Right. So what makes simba or Emma a ‘scam mattress’ ???"

They’re known “mattess in a box” companies that spend millions on advertising and fake reviews to make their very average mattresses sound better than they are.

That’s why many of they offer crazy “365 day return money back guarantee” because they operate at such a good turn over due to the mattresses being such low quality for the price they sell them at.

Simba is the biggest one. They have paid for ads at the top of any google search that contains the word “mattress” and they have 1000s of bought for, fake reviews

I disagree sorry! I’ve tried a simba mattress and although it wasn’t for me it was an excellent mattress, amazing customer service, 100 nights free sleep to test and if your not happy free return. I have lots of work colleagues who have bought the Simba and are extremely pleased with it.

That’s a few reviews from a few friends.

No ones saying they aren’t acceptable mattresses.

They should just be half the price, if not less.

Go find a good brand and get your money’s worth instead of paying for advertising.

Just what I’ve found through my research before buying one.

I’m sorry but this sounds like a lot of nonsense. There’s nothing wrong with a company spending heavily on advertising and paying to be top of google search results. It’s how business works and how u build brand awareness. 1000s of bought for fake reviews ? Yeah not buying that either. I think the modern day consumer is savvy enough to purchase and if the quality isn’t what they pay they return it. Your comments smack of one of those people who comments on things they don’t really understand

Yes they should be half the price I do agree, very expensive and I did get get mine at 50% through an offer at work, maybe why my colleagues are happy with theirs. Maybe

Fair, this is what I found from about a week of researching online and then confirmed to me by a mattress salesman when I went in store to buy and asked about the simba mattress they stocked there.

But you do you

I’m on a budget, so I bought a cheaper one from Amazon, I was really worried about it being rubbish because I couldn’t test it out, but Amazon would refund it if there was a problem.

Mine is an Inofia and I’m pleased with it.

It came in a box and I just undid the plastic wrap and it flew out

Any mattress that rolls is not going to give you much back support!

We replaced ours a month ago, the old one had some 'punishing' times

Went into Dreams where they have a test bed that scans your spine and sleeping posture and gives recommendations and have to say it was spot on, we tried a few others in the shop we thought might be better and kept coming back to the same one, sorted but the best part of £1000

They deliver so it doesn't need to fit in your car!

I have to agree in terms of Simba, I tried one a couple years ago and wasn't impressed. But then it was one of the softer ones in their range and I prefer a firm mattress so can't speak for some of their other products.

You may find this review amusing or even far fetched, but it is a truly genuine review. I purchased a super king Harrison Wisely 18200 gentle tension zipped at a cost of €2249. After two weeks of using our mattress, I managed to help my wife achieved a level of peek satisfaction today, and not only in the improved quality of her sleeping. This level of satisfaction occurred for the first time in over eight years of marriage. I can safely say, it is the best mattress I have ever purchased and it has improved the quality of our lives, in more ways than one. I'm glad I was not influenced by those reviews on Trust Pilot prior to purchase. They are certainly not a reflection on our experience with Harrison Spinks.
