There’s so many different bonds and relationships we can envy and fantasise about …. What’s yours ? The MD and young secretary , the life long friends , childhood sweethearts , madly deeply head over heels with each other , crazy sexual connection with a stranger ….

Going the other way on this, I love walking through the shops and seeing how unhappy couples can be. And then I think: thank god I am single and doing this all on my own merit.

I don't really envy anyone's, when you get to a certain age you learn to hold on to the good relationships and let go of the bad. Im lucky to have everything I need from the people around me already.

All of my friends and family are in relationships but don't seem particularly happy. I look at my eldest brother and his wife and they give me hope that a content and happy love is possible in the sea of discontented others.

Madly crazy in love would be great but I wouldn't call it "envy" .

Close family bonds are the best and I'm lucky to have them

My best friend and her husband met at uni. They are wonderful together, without too much PDA but you can see how well they get on with each other and the mutual respect and adoration and understanding between the two of them. Pleasure to be around.

Maybe having my dad around still like sine of my friends. Other than that I think you create the relationships you want , and if you look enviously on others your missing the point - they took years of hard work, compromises and sacrifices to be that good

Lifelong friends. I've always been able to make friends in every situation I've been in bit nothing more than surface level. Would love to change that if I had the chance

This for me too but different reasons-I've moved around a lot and lost touch with good friends when I should have made more effort, and now I miss some of them.

No envy for romantic or sexual relationships, I've been very lucky with both even if they weren't life long lasting.

I miss having a best friend that was more like a brother. I’m envious of those who still have that level of connection.

I feel lucky to have known a friendship like it at all though, but some things just can’t be mended.

Not sure envy is the right word, maybe more curiosity to know what it would be like to have siblings. Would we have got on or fought like cat & dog.

The nearest I have to it is cousins but as I’m 12-25 years older than them, I’m the go to for advice or questions they don’t want to ask their parents.

I don’t envy other relationships, as you never know what it’s really like, but one that is honest and open, with awesome communication, and where you can be completely yourself sounds good.

Plus, lots of lovely sex obv

What happened ?

I never had a BFF as a child, or adult, preferred to have a wider group and have different people for different needs , never got on with monogamy either took me 40 years to realise I was poly but explains why I never had BFFs!

I'm lucky to have this and I know I am. I adore my best friend and we're definitely more like sisters than friends.

As for others relationships, there's not anything I envy. I'm very lucky with the relationships I have in my life.

I dont envy anyones relationships as they're all what work for them and not necessarily what would work for me.

I've had times where I've been happy with the relationships I've had but it's outweighed by where I've been unhappy sadly so it's left me a but cynical.

I am however happy as I am and have found a lot out about what things make me happy over the last few years so I will keep on doing the things that make me happy if and when I can

I wouldn't say envy... not sure I envy any relationship honestly but I do admire those who keep it real and don't do it for the likes or the attention like so many do these days. I also love to see couples who are full of fun and humour and aren't embarrassed to act like silly sausages.

Gavin and Stacey. (But if I was Gavin, I would have to fuck it up. As it would be too goody goody, if that makes sense? )

Much prefer a darker, but respectful relationship and for the life of me. I can't think of a single couple. (Except perhaps, Gomez and Morticia, who have been mentioned above.)

My hubby "allows" me nothing as I "allow" him nothing... we wrote our vows to get rid of that assumed ownership... that word should never be used even in bog standard marriages x
