My Mum. She was my biggest cheerleader, my advocate, defended me whether I was right or wrong. I lost my confidence when she passed away.

My best mate, he took his own life 9 years ago, nobody saw it coming. He was into bodybuilding before I'd ever thought of lifting a weight, often think he'd love to see that I finally got into lifting.

There are many people I miss in my life, however each night for over 10 years, I have lit 4 candles (not handles for forks), 1 little one and 3 larger ones, I settle down with a glass of wine and listen to some music before sleep.

The little candle never lasts long, there is a poignancy to that, the one in the intricate metal cage casts shapes around my darkened room and the two in the hurricane glasses flicker and jump with playful energy.

I miss the ones that those candles represent, but they still light up my life.

I know, I know, I’m weird.

I would have always said my mum. She died when I had just turned 9 years old.

I am now 47 and have lived the majority of my life without her and now I have moments of guilt because I don't actually miss her because I only have very few memories of her.

I felt sad experiencing milestones throughout my life and not sharing those experiences with her.

Then I think about what our relationship would be like with me as an adult. In truth from what I have heard about many aspects of her personality I don't think I would like her too much and we would have clashed a lot. So I wonder am I better off never knowing or experiencing the ups and downs of that relationship.

I am not glad that she is not alive, please don't think that of me. But I cannot bring her back and I can't live my life hanging on to a handful of memories of someone I hardly remember from my childhood.

My older brother. He hasn't passed away or anything but over the past few years it feels as though life has got him down and he's unable to see the positivity in anything.

It's a shame because growing up, he was the funny and silly one, making all of us cry with laughter and while he could be moody, he was a joy to be around. But now he seems withdrawn, not into conversation, not wanting to speak to anyone, and he can be a chore to be around because he brings the mood down around him. I miss who he used to be and genuinely not sure if I can get that person back...

My Nan, who raised me, and died 5 years ago. Everything changed after she'd gone. The whole family ended up at war over her house as she had no will. Now I'm on my own and I miss her every single day. I'm also sad they my children didn't get to know her as she really was one in a million

I miss so many people. To be honest,too many. But more than anyone I miss my mom. The only person that made me feel special. Her smile when I went to see her. Her legendary hugs and she'd say 'that'll last me a week'. I miss her chips. I miss her strength. I miss her so much.

It’s shit.

They're still here, but I miss the Mum & Dad that were full of life and zest

It's so sad to see them now, one devoured by mental illness and one put through the ringer by physical illness

We rarely laugh any more, everything is a struggle, there's nothing to look forward to but death

They go on day by day, literally waiting for God

I've recently been trying to get in touch with some old school friends and found out my best friend and band mate died in a motorcycle accident a few years ago. Last time I spoke to him he was a sushi chef in London. Brought back a lot of good memories and a fair bit of sadness that he's gone

The two obvious ones are my Grandad and my Mum both of whom were huge influences on me.

Beyond that there are various people who've passed through my life at some point and with whom contact has either been lost or has stopped but who were a significant part of my life in some way or another all the same

My Nan. She died when I was only 8 but doesn’t feel like 25 years since I had a cuddle from her, I still talk to her now and think about her everyday, would love to just be able to spend 1 more day with her x

I miss too many people, I lost my sister, my best friend and my mum and was then divorced after 18 years married all in the space of 6 years.

The biggest miss is definitely my mum. She was always the one who supported me most. So unsurprisingly, my confidence is through the floor, my life is a mess and I struggle without their support.
