"I changed jobs, no longer working for the biggest oil and gas company in the world has eased my social conscience a lot" Significant change, that - can literally make the whole year and not only just one either.

"I have started meditating first thing in the morning and I feel that has helped me get my day off to a good start. The blue window cloths from Aldi have changed how clean I can get my mirrors, and that has always been a point of frustration for me. I can't seem to get my windows perfect, maybe because there are so much more of them, but my mirrors tend to be streak free now thank you Aldi! " I know! It is those small solutions sometimes - I remember the intense satisfaction when I got my first eye mask for £2.50 I think it was, what a difference it made to the quality of my sleep in the early hours of the morning! Then later ear plugs (which was actually due to 1.5 year torture of having terrible neighbours), it became such a habit that I haven't slept without a mask and ear plugs in years

I do use vinegar for a lot of cleaning solutions, and in my laundry, but it just didn't help enough with the mirror. Incidentally a great tip (which is kind of strange) is when limescale as built up on on chrome, like taps etc, rub it with a copper coin like a 2p. I'm amazed at how much comes off.

"End of January I stood on the scales and got a shock that I was almost back to a weight I was at 5 years ago that I thought I'd not see again After a bit of thought I came to the realisation that I was eating crap and not exercising (in fact was leaving the house once a week to go to the supermarket) - started walking daily for at least an hour and watching what I eat more... ....this morning I stood on the scales and am 3 stone lighter than I was in January, which was my target!! Not only that I feel so much better in myself not only physically but mentally too - my walks are a great mind clearer. Have chalked up 1300km in that time too " Well done on the weight loss. I’ve dropped 2 stone since February but would like to move another.

"This might seem random, but getting wireless headphones. The ability to just sit outside on a night, even a cold one, sip a drink and listen to good music has been a god send. Strangely I would have never done this before because of the faff of the wire and plugging it into my phone for music. Strange." I did this as well! It made a nice difference especially bearing in mind that I've already cracked a phone once due to the wires

My only slight gripe is I have fairly big earholes so even the largest buds aren't quite the right fit and have had them drop out as I'm walking or am forever adjusting them

Walking is not to be underestimated, in general movement and exercise are not only great for fitness but also for giving a constant mini boost to the overall wellbeing. I have been doing dance workouts partly as a substitute for real dancing and it has been making a big difference.

"Mentioning vinegar - I am trying it now on limescale and it really works. Somewhat surprising as not all home remedies actually work. Apparently, bleach only reduces the appearance of water deposits rather than removing them (or else discolouring them in pink or even brown!). The only problem with vinegar is that it is so thin and cannot really be sprayed and left to work the magic. I've been thinking of thickening it with arrow root but not sure how that would turn out Bicarbonate of sofa and aluminium foil have already worked wonders for my recently acquired vintage tea set - my maid of all work managed to make it look like new. It did involve some strenuous polishing on his part, so much the better I'm sure " Soak kitchen towel in vinegar and lay it on the limescale. If it’s in the toilet you’ll need to empty the water out first.

"Got a bean to cup coffee machine instead of pods or instant. Absolute game changer. " I have succumbed to a similar temptation and obtained an electric coffee grinder. I already have an Espresso coffee pot (the old fashioned kind that boils on the stove). Cannot say that there is such a pronounced effect but it must depend on the quality of the beans I suppose. Naively I thought that beans in themselves (rather than ground coffee) would already make an improvement, even if they are the cheapest Now I have some new supply of supposedly good quality beans so my hopes are high

I was subscriped to a monthly coffee subscription where they send out a different coffee each month for you to try. Great way to find out what kind of coffee bean you like best!

Hence my "genius" idea about thickening vinegar with arrow root. Or else I could just get one of my servants to scrub for half an hour, although this is not a priority right now when I have shoes that need polishing and my feet to be massaged

I don’t think I’d necessarily wear them out in public, but ideal for using at home.
