EURO 2020 SF Day 2 : Dane’t go breaking my heart ...

Jump to newest

Congrats to Italy who were victorious in last nights Semi-Final to make it through to their 4th European Championships Final, having won it once so far.

Tonight England and shock 1992 Winners Denmark lock horns to see who they will play in Sunday’s big Wembley showdown!

We’ve all been here before though with England haven’t we? The big expectation in reaching the semi-finals only to see hopes ultimately dashed in 1990 & 1996 and more recently in the last 4 of the World Cup in 2018 and then again in the European Nations League in 2019.

Surely under the law of averages it must be England’s turn to *finally* convert that into a place in the Final very soon? Will tonight be the night?

Denmark, of course, have been riding on the crest of goodwill following the events in their first group game and are surely all neutrals favourite team right now.

After 2 initial defeats in the group they’ve really hit form and will be very difficult opponents as successive wins versus Russia (4-1), Wales (4-0) and the Czech Republic (2-1) will testify.

My heart says England will win this by 2 goals. My head is used to being let down when it really matters though, so that tells me it’ll probably be an agonising Denmark win!

But I’ll stick with 2-0 England as my prediction, something that I’m sure will come back to bite me later!

What do you think?

Where will you be watching the game?

Will the “anyone but Englanders” on here finally get their chance to gloat tonight?

All will be revealed later!!

I'm sad that Spain lost yesterday. I hope whoever wins tonight will beat the Italians, and that the ref won't take the "falling over" bullspit that Italy always works so successfully.

Also, as a Swede, I'm bound to root against the bloody Danish

Our Gareth, who art in Wembley

Hallowed by thy waistcoat

Thy moments come

Thy match to be won

In normal, not in extra time

Give us this day our 2-0 win

And forgive us for doubting your tactics

As we forgive those who come against us

Lead us not into penalty shootout

But deliver us from Denmark

For thine is the Semi

The Final and the glory

You have perfectly captured the mental and emotional trauma of supporting England.

It will be nail biting whatever the result. Watching England is never a calm activity...

The Danes are a step up in class from anybody England have faced so far, including the Germans.

Tough game that I’m not gonna attempt to call, but to say that if England get through this, Italy are yet another step up… maybe one too far.

The South

I think it'll be a harder game than people think.

Denmark were driven by emotion before, they'll be even more driven to get to the final.

Definitely our toughest game so far.

Southgate will have a plan, if the players stick to it and don't make mistakes we'll get through.

Come on England!!!!!!

Not making predictions, what I will say is I think we've got progressively better in each game as we've progressed - just hope we maintain that momentum, it's a good game and we give of our best.

Shall be watching alone at home - must make sure not to miss any goals we score this time too

Kane found his shooting boots at the right time. Other players also scoring. Solid defence apart from Walker, got lucky last game with a few of his errors. He needs to be on form.

Home advantage. Danes a tough soild side.

2-1 England.

Some press reports that if England make it to the Final then Wembley might be at 100% capacity for the Final?

Not sure about that (and we have to win tonight first) but from a sporting experience perspective that would be epic (Covid concerns aside of course)

If you think that’s good value then pile in!

Does seem quite long in a three horse race but the bookies don’t tend to lose very often.

That’s because they’ve already won their semi so have one game less to play. The odds will change again once the winners of England v Denmark are known after tonight.

I’m getting nervous, it’s a big game and Sunday could be the biggest game in most of our lifetimes.

I’m hoping for an England win today but there have been oh so many great performances followed up by apathetic ones.

We can beat Denmark, whether we do tonight is to be seen

Nothing to do with a lack of respect. Odds reflect the market. If loads of people pile in on Denmark the odds will go down.

The odds compilers odds after the Italy win was 9/1 for Denmark to win the Euros..not enough respect for Denmarks chances,as I said .

.There has to be a book before people can "pile on " anyone..

Also I very much doubt Denmark are 9/1 in Denmark,to win the tournament..

Pity my best mate. He paid £500 for a ticket for tonights game, then realised his covid rearranged wedding is on later on this afternoon.

He's now looking for someone to take his place. If anyone fancies it, her name is Julie, shes 5ft 6 and you need to be at Lincoln Registry Office at 4pm. There's a buffet laid on in the Red Lion afterwards....

There has to be an initial book after each round/ match to allow a market to form..

Odds are re-assessed after each match..

The original pre market book ( last night )BEFORE MARKET ADJUSTMENT was Denmark 9/1... Which doesn't give enough respect to Denmarks chances..your market support comment is a red herring.

An initial book and a formed market is not the same thing..

Yeah, not an ideal winner if it does stay like this but I think our overall play deserves this. At least that's what I'm telling myself

Looks like he's switch to a back 5 which I get tactically but why sub off Grealish? That can't do his confidence any good.

Also, as a Swede, I'm bound to root against the bloody Danish"

The " falling over bullshit " experts tonight were England...penalty my f**k ...and Kane hit the ground anytime anyone brushed off him...

No way was that a penalty.. The whole point of var is to eliminate any controversial decisions instead it created the biggest mistake in its existence.. England still deserved to go through they were the better team just don't like to see anybody cheated..

True, but England have had their fair share of dodgy decisions against them in tournaments passed. It's va shame it came against a nice team like Denmark who are the neutral favourite but hope we can enjoy this

World Cup 66 our last final, we drew our first game 0-0, we then won and kept clean sheets until the semi finals the result being 2-1 to progress …. Not sure my heart can handle the score line from that tournament mind in the final game
