"So I was taking my dog his evening walk when another dog escaped from a garden and went for him. Pulled them apart and carried him off but when I looked at my thumb it was bleeding. Looks more like a scratch than bite. Put anti septic cream on it and covered it up but would I need a jag? Hoping there's some medically trained people on the forum Oh my dogs fine BTW. " If your not up to date with your tetanus jab then you should get another.

"Dont think we have rabies in the UK .. Covid yes, rabies no! Its not just rabies you can get from a dog bite. What else can you get then?? Apart from bruise or redness?" Dogs will have all sorts of bacteria on their claws. I think a relatively healthy person with a good immune system would shrug it off though

It was out in the day on a path in the woods that my nephew was using to canter up and down on on his pony so I thought I'd be a nice person and rescue it. Ungrateful bastard! Best bit was I had just told my niece not to pick up wild animals because they can bite. Learning with auntie Evie is fun! They still talk about it now

"Booked a tetanus shot for Thursday just to be on the safe side. " … Should he seen to ASAP, any break in the skin caused by an animal, even a pet, needs to be seen to before infection sets in. Wait til Thursday and you could have sepsis

"I'm pretty sure tetanus needs to be done every 10 years...although when I got a bit of wood stuck in my leg a few years ago they said that because I was over 40 and had had it regularly throughout my life (I've always been clumsy ) that I didn't need it because I'd be covered for life from previous boosters. " Yeah, they used to say every 10 years but now they say so long as you had all the childhood ones you're covered for life. Best to check though incase. The daughter of parents friends got it a long time ago and it was very nearly lethal. With anything like that its always best to keep an eye on it, a little redness around the scratch is normal, if this starts to spread or swell then get it looked at ASAP infection can spread incredibly quickly. Hospitals are much more alert these days to the dangers of sepsis but you don't get much time. The NHS website has all the advice you should need and if you're unsure call 111 for advice. Mr

"I was bitten by my mates dog Shandy, when I was 14, had to have a Tet jab. The wierd thing is dogs don't threaten me now. I also get very restless on full moon nights. Seriously, not joking. If bitten by anything wild seek medical help to be on the safe side. " Definetly a werewolf.
