How can you tell a fake profile?

Hi

We have been on this site a few weeks now, and there appears to be an awful lot of time wasters and fake people.

How can you spit the fake profiles?

We have spoken to a few couples recently who have had the same. We know all are not fake and enjoy chatting and planning, but it is worrying.

Picture verified is usually a good start... followed by meet verifications ... this tend to be genuine profiles .. but not always foolproof

The old adage still rings true of if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck ... chances are it's ....

Prefer to get to know them on here before moving to things like Kik etc... if they immediately ask to go to Kik ... again ... be a little suspicious ... but that isn't always the case ... you tend to get a gut instinct

There are poor orphaned duck emojis looking for a home and you didn't use any..how long do the downtrodden duck emojis have to stay penned up in the clouds waiting for the chance just to appear on a forums page just to brighten up our day...

It is never just one thing that will lead us to believe they are fake or a timewaster.

You start with simple things such as photos and profile write up. What verifications do they have and who they are from. You see a lot of blank couples profiles with one verification from a single guy for example.

Then as you start chatting how does the conversation flow. Do they immediately look to turn the conversation sexual. If for example they say they want to meet then you seem to have to do all the running such as having to suggest dates and locations that is a big clue. Asking for a social in a pub is a big one for us and if we are in any doubt a phone call between the females.

As I said at the start it is never just one thing it will be a culmination of a few things that will lead our gut instinct to suggest that they are fake or if we did arrange a meet they wouldn't turn up.

There's no sure fire way OP, although I would say in 5 years here I've never had my time wasted or had a fake profile that has gor beyond the first few messages.

Part of that comes down to gut instinct, part down to taking my time and getting to know people before suggesting meeting, and part my interactions generally being via the forums so I have a good feel for people before talking to them.

All you can do really is keep your guard up, take precautions and not rush into things
