Once you start something do you keep on keeping on until you’ve achieved your goal, even when the going gets tough ?

Or do you sometimes just say a big Nah, and rip it up and start again ?

What in your life has been worth persevering with, or what are you glad you gave up on ?

Depends how motivated I am by it - which for me takes a lot

That said if I truly believe in something or can see the benefits of keeping on then I tend to stick with it - often past the point where I maybe should have given up.

Weight loss is a good example for me - for years I wasn't in the slightest bit motivated to do anything about my weight despite the "in" joke being that my stomach looked like I had been pregnant for 20 years!!

I finally got motivated to do something about it after a XXL shirt didn't fit me and promptly lost 3 stone - trouble was I kept going and ended up looking gaunt.

I think the fact that I’m here at all is enough, I mean they had to create a universe, then a galaxy, then a Hospitable planet, then evolution had to do its thing, plus I had a tough first few years, so anything now is a bonus. I think ambition is for people who lack imagination.

A fantastic achievement GM and I’m sure the re-balance is just a matter of time.

I’m similar I think, slow to warm up but then very focused and determined.

I would say with the things that are important to me, I always get there but I might have some breaks and moments along the way where I can't cope. But if it's something like learning how to make candles and getting bored then I'll just fuck it off.

Oh that was 5 years ago - this time round I'm more aware of the pitfalls and trying to maintain that balance better now I've got to where I want to be

Perseverance doesn’t have to continuous. If anything returning to the important things and starting again takes more character and quiet determination.

It all depends how interesting it is really, with ADHD I can start a million projects & finish few of them,

underestimating in time & cash what's required to complete them is a big killer, distractions & loosing focus is another....4 yes on one ca, 8 on the other, half finished evening gown, half wrote poems/lyrics, half painted pics, parts of books...you name it it's not finished yet

This past year gave me a kick up the bum, I went for promotion and got it, will be doing a management course with that, and I'm also doing training to be audiology clinical support as well so another course I'll be doing

I'm a stubborn bitch so if I can see the end goal I will plough through difficulties and will keep moving.

If it's a negative situation, whether that's a toxic workplace, a bad relationship, unequal/unsupportive acquaintances, abusive family relationships then fuck that shit, I won't try to change things for long before I bolt. There isn't an end goal other than to remove myself from the situation.

When I put my mind to it I am achieve anything really like you say keep going until you get there, you might fuck up a bit but thats part of learning so keep going and you will get there in the end

you make mistakes but unless you do you dont learn too many give up too quickly and those that dont tend to be the winners in life
