Holidays... what would you pick?

If you could pick to go on one big holiday or two smaller but still good holidays what would you pick?

I’m debating booking Disney world/universal for 3 weeks next year. Budget is approx 10k, not including spending money.

But I can’t help but feel 2 x 5k holidays would be much better.

Mainly going to Disney for my kids. Already took them to Disney Paris 3 times so I don’t really want to go back there.

What would others do? Had anyone been to Disney world and is it really worth it?

Please don’t bring covid into it. If restrictions are in place then I won’t be going etc but I mean in general.

You can get Disney much cheaper than that, either book independently or look at a company such as awesome adventure company as they do amazing deals. That way you get Disney and another good holiday.

I mean if you already took your kids to Disneyland paris … I don’t think disney Orlando will make much of a difference. It is a lot of money …

Id rather do the 2x5K holidays. your kids would still an amazing time if you picked the right locations

Florida is a perfect destination for everyone in the family…Disney/Universal/Sea World/Busch Gardens for the thrill seekers.

Discovery Cove, Florida Keys for more relaxing - Miami within driving distance.

They have plenty of shopping outlets, themed restaurants and non Disney/Universal type stuff to do too.

Disneyland Paris is not even close to the same level as the Florida theme parks…that’s just a small snapshot. A very small snapshot.

Florida is a must do at least once in your life…but be warned, you’ll want to do it again - there’s so much to see and do. I’ve been 5 times and I still haven’t seen it all.

I'm sweating at 5k for a holiday, let alone 10

I think Disney is a 'once in a lifetime' holiday expense

I'd want to know my kids were of an age where they both appreciate it and remember it

I'd also want them to enjoy it without the fear of it being cancelled or having their experience muffled by restrictions

We've seen how easily the regulations change, so whilst you say ignore Covid, I couldn't

I just wouldn't commit to it until such a time as things are eased and are more than likely to stay that way for a long time

I personally wouldn't be spending 10k on one holiday to Disney.

I'd sooner hire a rv and tour america for 3 weeks, pick the right area to suit you and you'd create a lifetime of memories and could maybe include a couple of days in Disney before hitting the trail.

Been to Florida and it’s absolutely amazing, top 2 of my favourite destinations so I’d say go for that. So many things to do and you can make it as cheap or expensive as you like

Not really. I was thinking 2 weeks Disney and one week in universal.

I think that’s 9 parks but also adding in days to tampa bay, a day shopping outside Disney too as my daughter wants to go in a dollar store sea world, Busch gardens, space Kennedy centre.

I am open to any suggestions though if anyone thinks 21says is too much!

I done 3 weeks the first time I went - planned on relaxing days in-between the theme parks, entertainment centres….ended up doing something every day. The theme parks are nothing like you’ve seen in this country or Paris - there are shows, parades, firework displays…even queuing for rides is a unique experience as you are immersed into the ride straight away.

Staying on International Drive then gives you the options of shopping, entertainment away from the parks, fantastic restaurants. Plus all hotels have transport to the theme parks.

Orlando is so much better than any of the other Disney parks though, especially Paris.

I'd say big holiday over 2 little ones. It's a great experience and you get much more than just Disney. There's universal studios, mgm, seaworld (although black fish mind of puts you off that one), epcot, loads of water parks, gator land, the everglades.

You can go to standard holiday resorts any year.

I personally wouldn't be spending 10k on one holiday to Disney.

I found that going for 10 weeks all at once was much better, one flight rather than 2 flights. And once I'm there I've used a week to acclimatise to the new setting.

Definitely two holidays a year as they can be so different from one another.

I’ve always wanted to take my kids to Orlando, but I’m out off by the huge queues now.

I went years ago, and it really was amazing, but it’s so busy now.

Could you do a two centre hol, one week in Orlando, and one somewhere else, Caribbean or something?

I would like to do a night walk upto a volcanos crater and look down at the red hot lava and take in the northern lights...

I'd definitely go big and go to universal. But I'm desperate to go there so I'd happily sacrifice other holidays.

I guess though that after Covid and being unable to get away two holidays instead of one might seem like the better option.

If Orlando is going to be something you can do afford again in the foreseeable future, then maybe just take the two holidays while you can.

Dubai at the moment but I’m hoping to try a few places further east that may change it and I know they’re 2 completely different places not even close to being similar

One of my kids is disabled so we are entitled to use a DAS pass I think it’s called. I won’t have to wait in many of the huge queues as I think il Get a time to come back.

Think you've got your answer right there then. It's a dream holiday for her. Just make sure all those going are tall enough to go on the rides. We went 3 times as kids as each time there was at least 1 of us not tall enough lol

I didn’t think of that!

Think I will need to check the height restrictions. I know both kids are over 1.2m but under 1.4m though
