I get them from threads I posted on weeks ago... I usually just delete and occasionally reply on the thread... Even tho, whoever it was has rarely posted on there too... Weird

I'll get messages off of threads.

Usually it's from, I presume, a lurker and sometimes I'll reply and sometimes not depending on what they've message.

I will get messages from other forum users (and I send them to the same) if it's off-topic on the thread or to continue a started conversation without derailing the thread.

I don't mind conversational messages from threads, but I can't be doing with creepy lurker guys that turn a post you've made into a sleazy sexual offer

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it, but then again, the only messages I've ever recieved or sent because of a forum post were a continuation of a discussion between myself and the other person in that thread. I've not had to endure the lurkers and the pesterers!

This is my take on it too.

Has lead to some interesting conversations.

Maybe their nominated poster wasn't available and the "friends" have to ask on their own behalf?

I’ve had it, where they’ve expressed some truly bizarre views and I’m like why did you think I would concur or have similar views to this, if you haven’t got the plums to air them on the thread keep it to yourself.

Maldon and Peterborough

I may want to say something person, or not want to flood the thread with posts backwards and forwards with replies to that person.

Just my 2p worth.

Paradise, Herts

Doesn’t bother me to be honest. I only really read messages from forum folk anyway. I’ve done it a few times myself. Don’t think it’s pissed anyone off. Hopefully not.

I've had a few messages about things I've posted but it's always funny when someone is losing an argument and whip out the old " I've had dozens of dm's supporting me from people who won't post on the forums" line.
