After a big of leg pain, for a week I’ve struggled to get asleep at night. Apart from pills any advice in dealing with this?

It’s new to me.

Expose yourself to sunlight during the day for your body clock to work.

Limit caffeine.

Practice good sleep hygiene.

Make your bedroom dark and cool.

Don't use screens at night time.

Have a warm bath before bed.

Have starchy carbs for tea.

Focus on your breathing... Its really hard to do

Clear all distractions , clear your mind. Breathe in for a slow count of 4... Imagine you are watching a dot going up a smooth hill.. then breathe out for slow count of 4, watch the dot go down the hill.. Then repeat

You should be calm and reset if you do it for a while... And it should get your heart nice and smooth and allow your brain to relax

If you close your eyes whilst doing it, hopefully you'll then be able to relax into sleep

Vitamin D and Magnesium supplements may help.

Sleeping pills will only be prescribed for a short time, as they eventually keep you awake.

If you have some carbohydrate, toast, spuds etc, it induces the same sleep hormone they do.

This. You end up dependent on them and can't sleep without

It took me a week of virtually no sleep to reverse this. Now i have them but take them very very occasionally if i have had a run of poor sleep.

Some really good advice posted above.
