When would you set an anniversary date for a relationship?

So in a vanilla world would you count from the very first date you went on a date? Or when you first had sex? Or something else?

Is it different on fab? Would you count it from when you decided to be an item or just as you would have done from a vanilla perspective.

It amuses me how men and women think differently on this in life and where to count it from and curious to see the responses and if people would have a different view on it for fabs.

This is where we are at now….

We started chatting in June last year but can’t remember the exact date (messages on FAB from then have been wiped)

We met for the first time in July

We actually decided on being a proper couple instead of FB’s in October.

If we go with October then it puts us out on pics we’ve sent to family of a walk in the Lakes we done in August last year. We said we met on a walking group

We don’t know the exact date in June and so July seems to be the most obvious date to go for…

we remember our wedding anniversary, we know the year we got together but not the date. We often forget to celebrate our anniversary .

On fab we don't mark dates at all

My husband and I counted the date he asked me to be his girlfriend. Then he proposed on that same date 2 years later. 3 years after that we were married on that same date. Now we've been together just over 9 years

I would base it on when you first decided to be an item. Basing it on when you first started talking or met just lets you pretend you have been together longer. You could have been talking for months before you decided you wanted to be an item.

For us, our anniversary is when we had our first one on one meet but we also recognise the first time we met face to face.

It’s weird, seeing as how we originally started talking on line and neither of us can remember exactly when that was

We go for the night we first met, even if it was in a dungeon. It's a relatively easy date to remember (although we both remember when we decided to become official and celebrate by having the meal we had that evening).

We do the month we met... no flipping idea of the actual day though. I think we were both pissed. But we only celebrate our actual wedding anniversary.

Neither of us are that bothered by marking these occasions though so I've no comprehension of those that worry too much about these things.

But what if neither of you want to actually do the whole 'M' word thing?

Or have done it so many times already you're sick of paying divorce lawyers?

Or not actually divorced from the last time and can't marry?

Or you're too skint to pay for a wedding?

Or you hate suits or wedding dresses?

Or worse you've got no friends to invite?

What would date would you have then?

Some absolute cock and bull story about meeting when I was on a hen do in Birmingham. I've never been on a hen do where there's been a piss up. Honestly, it's shamefully bad. I'm sure they think we're too ashamed to say we met via the internet.

There’s enough to deal with in life I can’t be arsed with remembering dates for anything other than medical etc appointment

I don’t do birthdays or Christmas either

They’re all meaningless and created by women (generally) to get gifts and make men (generally) feel guilty for forgetting incidental and (in the scheme of life) irrelevant days

Like in the moment

Enjoy life for what it is

And forget about imprinting dates in your mind that will mean absolutely nothing anyway when you’re in another relationship (not meaning the OP but people in general)
