Detangling a butt plug

I have a lovely horsetail butt plug that id like to train myself to use (the plug is rather large lol) but since its been in storage the tail has got all knotted.

What's the best technique to get the tangles out?

Put fabric conditioner but just had a paddle brush and seemed to make it worse. Will get a detangling comb

I was trying to work out what you could possibly need to de-tangle a butt plug from. Makes sense now but it was definitely a "huh?" moment
