would you say you prefer for there to be a natural urge to undress each other over a "coffee" or I can come over and help you with a "leak" under your sink. Or invite me over to look at your new "bed sheets" you just ordered. Lol

But even dogging sounds weird like a group of people are invited to bring their dog. People Go walking in groups hill walkers shouldn't this just be fucking like animals people Go to the pub for a drink.so off to field for a shag you go to the loo to spend a penny and you go to the woods to shed your load or empty your tank

Sex or sexual play may be involved, but what we are looking for is not just fucking someone. Using “play” is a lot less dramatic than listing what we are going to do to someone each time we talk.

Also as we use a lot if toys, play is a natural fit.

Not sure what a good alternative is...after all it is fun and we are playing with each other.

Other’s options could get a bit long winded for example - would you like to meet for some emotion and physical stimulation?

Think I’ll stick with the fun play

not really It’s not all about sex or penetration for me. It’s the friendship, socialising, teasing, trying new things, using toys, getting to know people in a very deeper level. It’s all around a playful journey for me so yes I see it as a “adult play” or “adult fun” but dropping the word adult while using them.

We’re a sexually repressed people, even sex positive people such as are often found on here have deep seated repressions. Hence why we use words like; play, fun, dirty, naughty, etc when we actually mean sex.

For me the problem is that the alternatives like sex or fucking seem to describe the act rather than the whole event. It can be fairly playful and why is it just children who play? Adults just play different games!

Fun and play are cool, sometimes we meet just for a fuck but sometimes there's other aspects, toys etc so play works for as a general term. I'm more concerned when people can't use words like cock or pussy....we declined to meet a couple partly because they use words like love-stick!

La la land

For me it's part of a whole experience, so there maybe wax play, impact play etc etc going on when I meet someone as well as fucking them. And play kind of summarises everything else I'd have to say first we shall spank me arse then, we will do xyz and finally we get around to the fucking bit.

To me it's no different to saying a night out with my friends rather than saying I'm going out for a meal then we're going to a few bars and then hit a club.

I don't like this word either. And the word 'fun'

Playing and fun are words I use to describe something I do with my kids and grandchildren.

I prefer people to say what they mean not use innocent words to describe what they don't actually mean....

I don't hate it but I certainly don't like it. I wish there was a better word for it but I can't really think of one that conveys the enjoyment of of sex. Just saying "I'm looking for sex" or "We had sex together" seems kind of functional to me.

There is a woman we know who says of couples "I want to play with both". Saying "I want to have sex with both" instead doesn't capture a sense of enjoyment to me.

Exactly this. I use the term playing because I'm naturally playful in bed. I don't want someone just fucking me. We as a couple also enjoy playing as a cuckold couple. But it's not something we do in real life. So we play at it.

It's about an ability to differentiate words for their different meanings. Multiple words have multiple meanings in different context and situations.

Is it the word you dislike (like how people dislike "moist") or you are just unable to apply a word to a different meaning?

People refer to masturbation as playing with themselves.

People also call swinging a hobby.

I think most people are looking for a fun experience and to meet like-minded people.

In theory play and fun are inoffensive unspecific but suggestive and inclusive words!

I think meeting is unavoidable as a term really. I would never refer to a meet with anyone off here as a date.

Playing is a weird one, doesn't conjure up my idea of a passionate romp round the bedroom.

Naughty kind of gets me... I guess for some people it is, but it sounds a bit childish when we're all consenting adults.
