It's quite a popular Eastern fashion and loads of school kids wear them.

As with all symbolic things, it doesn't always mean what you think.

jewellery that I simply like wearing, I do have a variety of others that I will wear to clubs or if I was to be a bit mischievous while out with hubby - there’s a few in my photos
