"Compassion always " Is that philosophy? I guess it’s a touch of Buddhist belief that all living things are to be respected and to live in balance and compassion with the world. Karmic balance. Perhaps it’s a sign of the world that being compassionate is a philosophy, rather than just the right way to be in this world

Perhaps it’s a sign of the world that being compassionate is a philosophy, rather than just the right way to be in this world According to Schopenhauer compassion should be the basis of all morality due to the inevitable suffering of the ‘will’ of life " That’s interesting. I often find that a lot of philosophical thinking is based on qualifiers. ‘Should’ is a very common one. Doesn’t the concept of suffering create a conflicting reaction of morality and compassion in people? Is compassion an effort of will, in which case then it’s not about morality?

"I think we’re just a bunch of cells that’s got smart enough to become self aware. I think there’s a constant battle between our cognitive brain and our mammalian/reptilian brain. Free choice is when your cognitive brain is running the show " That sounds a lot like Nihilism

"I believe in karma, reincarnation/past lives. I definitely think I've been here before, I'm an old soul. What makes you feel that? " De ja vu. I have very intense feelings connected to certain eras, like 2nd world war and ancient Egypt. I've always liked history, antiques, anything vintage. I feel more at home in historic buildings than ultra modern.

Doesn’t the concept of suffering create a conflicting reaction of morality and compassion in people? Is compassion an effort of will, in which case then it’s not about morality? " Well he believed life is a process of disillusionment and famously said that the world is hell and people are the devils in it…for him compassion not hope is all that’s left based on the inevitable tragedy of existence…pessimism or realism? He wouldn’t view it as a ‘should’…’will’ in his philosophy isn’t conscious willing but more akin to Freud’s concept of the’Id’

"I believe in nothing but facts backed up with scientific proof. But doesn’t philosophy begin where science ends?" Philosophy asks the questions. Science tries to apply it. Never really ends.
