Looking to install electric dry underfloor heating at my new place.. is anybody using it? If so, is it better and efficient than gas combi radiators?

Is the difference huge compared to gas combi heating?

Have run it in a previous house, its great as you get a getter ambient temperature in the room rather than a hotspot from a radiator.

Electric is dearer to run.

Ive gone full underfloor heated throughout in my current home but went with a wet system. The temperature throughout is perfect you dont get cold parts/hot parts of the house.

The reason i went for a wet system was because its so so cheap to run & reliable.

Would i ever go back to radiators? No never

How much dearer? Are we talking pennies or pounds?

I had a 200watt system, i had it on a thermostat system so when the ambient air temp dropped it clicked in and adjusted ect. It was pounds different a about £15 per week for 300sqm just the downstairs heated . But imo was worth it.

I have a floor plan of 1200sqm with wet underfloor now but have the upstairs heated too so equates too 2400sqm, that costs £18 more a month than than with rads to heat.

If your just heating a room and its a well insulated room go for a 150w kit, with thermostat it wont cost much at all extra per month maybe afew pounds.

One thing i will say is it warms the room differently its a less sweaty heat you dont get that oh im too hot, oh its too cold it just keeps it at a steady ambiance.

Also you dont switch it off you leave it on, then let the thermostat do its business, if your switching it on/off your not using it right and it takes a while to warm the room.

We have electric in our conservatory, you don't need much floor depth and easy to install. Leave it on low and it keeps the floor tiles lukewarm lovely. Not expensive to run but its only a nine mts square area . Dan

I had electric underfloor in an apartment rather than storage heater. It was ace. Agree with keeping it on and letting the thermostat work.
