"Solaris (Tarkovsky original, not the shitty remake). Films don't come any more intelligent. Unless they're Stalker, which is also good. For English language films, Blood Simple (Coens early and best), Duel, any of the early 70s no wave road movies, and I retain a huge soft spot for both Apocalypse Now and Taxi Driver. " A Tarkovsky fan on Fab !

"A Tarkovsky fan on Fab ! " Honestly I don't know how anybody who claims to love cinema can't love Tarkovsky. The man lived and breathed auteurism, film and storytelling. Sure the films are slow and thoughtful and a bit bookish. And what's wrong with that, unless you think all a film is is a loaf of SFX and CGI?

"Transformers the Movie (1984) Kelly’s Heroes" Fun Fact. Transformers the movie (1984) was Orson Wells last ever film role before he died. He played the voice of Omnicron, the planet devouring robot.

"Local Hero (1983) Good story and lovely ambience. A young Jenny Seagrove and elderly Burt Lancaster. A young Peter Capaldi and elderly Fulton McKay. Great beach dwelling." Good choice with a Bill Forsyth film, I personally prefer Gregory’s Girl a little bit more. But happily watch both as a perfect double bill
