"No idea, I have a dishwasher! And the most economical dishwasher tablets are?" I buy Lidl own brand - haven’t noticed that more expensive are any better. However, although all the tablets are supposed to be 3 in 1 I still put rinse aid and salt in the dishwasher too. My dishwasher has a facility to wash at high temp but at half the time of the pans setting so rarely have anything that doesn’t wash squeaky clean.

"This is a difficult one to answer as there are different answers. Are you looking for the one that lasts the longest? One that does not contain palm oil? One that is safe for aquatic life? One that is in recyclable packaging? Lily " This. We found Tesco’s have started selling ones where you get the bottle and a capsule of concentrated soap. Just add water to make up the bottle. Disappointed that they didn’t replacement capsules as well but Amazon do. We’re giving it a go to see how it works out. If not, back to Fairy liquid. Stag

I reckon it's cheaper to buy the supermarket stuff even if it means we use more but have no evidence to back it up. That's why I hoped that someone might have done their research

"I know it’s a big commitment investing in washing up liquid, but I always take the plunge and invest in Fairy liquid, I’m not taking any chances on the supermarket own brand, sure I could save over 3 pounds a year, that I could put towards a new house, but I don’t think you can put a price on clean plates. " I think you quite clearly have put a price on it, about £3.

"Does anyone know what the most economic washing up liquid is. Are you better off with expensive fairy liquid or 5 supermarket own brand for the same price. Which lasts longer?" I used to work in restaurants and we got the 5ltr unbranded tubs from wholesalers and watered them down 50% , stops you using too much by accident. Unless you let the food dry or have grease you often don’t need any detergent, it’s unnecessary pollution.
