It really got to me, that film. After watching it I didn’t think about it too much. But a day later I couldn’t stop myself from looking on YouTube for reviews and it’s deeper meanings. Subconsciously it had an affect on me and I still don’t know why.

I know what you mean. I think it's the religious/spiritual dimension to it. It's not a slasher flick with senseless killing, the death and violence is meant to serve a higher purpose and preserve an idyllic way of life.
