It’s all relative I think OP, set against our own standards for recognition and the need to be liked / popular.

From where I’m sitting (you’ll be pleased to hear I’m currently on the sofa and not the toilet!

) you are one of the most “interacted with” men on here. You start a lot of threads and they tend to be popular ones with positive, friendly replies.

I’ve seen some blokes start threads that you could argue are equally as thought provoking or populist and they literally bomb down the page unanswered, or they get very short thrift as they’re not one of the “well known” forumites so in that respect I would say you are very lucky and very popular.

What I don’t know though is the level of your need / desire to be liked.. some of us have larger egos than others (not saying that you have - I don’t know you - I’m talking generically) and no level of popularity will be enough and they’ll always feel ‘unloved’ irrespective of the level of popularity they get.

What makes you say you’re unpopular? How are you measuring it against other users of the site?

Lately though I’ve noticed I’m not bothered anymore of my comments are skipped over but I think that’s to do with my counselling. I would recommend counselling to everyone even if they don’t think they need it cos when you reach that point where you genuinely don’t want anything from anyone, don’t expect anything, don’t care about what other people think of you, I can’t even put into words how peaceful and content you feel.

I think some people pay way too much attention to the reaction they get on the forum and keep a close eye on whether people have responded to them. The trick is not to give a fuck and to not follow up to see if you have been responded to. Not always easy to do and I've been guilty of scanning a thread. DONT DO IT. Post and let it go.

I know how you feel, sometimes I think why do I bother when there are so many other ways to meet like minded people. Have a look at what you actually want from the site. I enjoy the banter and some of the infighting over pics and fabs, but it's just one of many sites. I visit it most days but don't expect a lot. I have friends on here I have met up with and friends who wouldn't be seen dead on here who I also meet. Don't give up on yourself.
