According to reports, scientists bought lots of tuna rolls from different branches of Subway in the USA and tested the 'tuna' for tuna DNA. Pretty much they didn't find any or if they did it was miniscule .. What's going on here guys ?

The USA food laws and requirements are a lot different to the UK or EU laws. If you compare their McDonald's the ingredients of their fries are mind blowing.

Also tuna dna is massively lost due to seasoning and cooking, as well as then huge piles of mayo added.

Finally, it's a tuna sandwich from subway...what do you expect. Hardly gourmet.

Saying that though....mmmm steak and cheese footlong....drool.

Don't eat it then.

The Americans use mash potato substitutes with about 30% potato in it. As far as some are concerned if it says contains potato in the box then that's ok.

Why be different with tuna.

Standards are tougher here so I reckon it's definitely tuna otherwise subway would be bankrupt by now from all the lawsuits.

Why sensationalise something 4000miles away. Were not in new York

I don't think we're ever going to fully control what goes into our bodies unless we're prepared to grow the food ourselves. I very rarely have takeaways because having that stuff just isn't good for me which is why I buy food from supermarkets. Even though it's better, again, I can't control what they put in their meat or veg. See the Tesco horse meat sandal.

What's going on is if you pay buttons for fast food you pay all the consequences... Not just in food processing but staff minimum wages. If you want fresh Tuna pay for it.

up the road

Law suite filed by a few Americans wanting to make millions , the whole story is a bit fishy to me.

As previously pointed out by one poster a DNA test on any cooked meat or fish ect will yield little to nothing as DNA is destroyed by cooking, seasonings processing ect ect.

But if they did an enzyme linked ELISA test they would get an accurate result of whats in the roll above 1% ,

Nurd glasses off

Four legged chickens can occur naturally due to errors in embryonic development. Can you let us know which news outlet (or other source) is reporting actual deliberate attempts to make 4-legged chickens?! Presumably it's all over [the news outlets]?

I remember the first time I had a 'beef' sub from subway (around 17 years ago), and as soon as I tasted it I knew it was nothing like real beef, it was so heavly processed it was more like a processed hot dog. But its just like McDonald's.

What really gets to me is parents who take thier children to these places for Sunday lunch and dinner. Instead of cooking a healthy meal at home.

Both Findus an Tesco were involved in the horse meat scandal, their Spag Bol ready meals contained 60% horsemeat.

The meals were made in France by a company called Comigel using meat obtained from Romania, who in turn denied any wrong doing.

It's in the Kentucky Times. A farmer has been breeding four legged chickens because of the Kentucky demand for drumsticks over breast meat. The reporter asked the farmer what they tasted like. The farmer said, I don't know. I haven't caught one yet....
