Possessions?

Do you have a possession that you really cherish?

Maybe an image/photograoh reminding you of precious moments?

Have you had to save for something? Really had to work for it extra hard, and now that you have it, really appreciate it?

Or...has something treasured been passed down through the family?

Anyone have a memory box?

I have a couple of inexpensive bits. One is a tiny pair of porcelain shoes, they were my nans.

When I see them I am reminded of her shoe collection and stomping round as a kid in them.

They are not very valuable, but priceless to me

You must have some great memories playing with the guitar.

My late kids dad, made a guitar, must be 30 odd years ago. It has some great artwork on the back.

We wouldn't part with it

Love that...that is so sweet.

When I was a kid my granddad used to sing White Christmas...I now play it every Christmas, it wouldn't be the same without it.

It's like a shout out to them

I've got a CD from the now sadly deceased singer Jeff Buckley, which was given to me by a good friend when we went to see Jb on my 17th birthday. Before giving the CD to me, my friend gave it to someone he knew who was interviewing Jeff before the gig. When the CD finally made it to me Jeff had signed it. But it wasn't just his signature, he'd gone to the trouble of opening out the inlay, signed my name and written 'Happy birthday.... Love from Jeff Buckley' and surrounded the text with drawings of ballons and presents. It's framed now on my wall and is my favourite possession.

I also have John Peels backstage pass from a late 1990s Glastonbury...

I may have started out with the intention of saving my kids teeth, but 3 kids later and many years, I've long lost them.

I probably threw them out!

"You must have some great memories playing with the guitar."

I do. Countless pub gigs, some great and some rubbish but all memorable in their own way.

I'm kind of a geek about industrial design and there's a magic about Fender guitars, they're not handbuilt artisan pieces, they're tools to do a job and do it well and not break, and my 30+ year old, much abused guitar still plays pretty much like new.

Sentiment wise, my teddy Simon who's been with me from age 3. He's not weathered as well as the guitar but is still hanging in there, bare patches and wonky eye and all.

I still have my teddy that my Dad bought me the day I was born and I keep all the things that my niece and nephew made me from them being 2 years old

"People as well as cards my son made for me and back up disks of videos and photos in a waterproof and fireproof case. Those are all that matter.

Everything else can be replaced to some extent.

You sound very organised

I am because of a childhood experience of being evacuated with nothing but the clothes we were wearing from a country breaking into a revolution. I always think what would I take in a small case at a moment’s notice and never consider anything precious except people.

I wear a gold chain that Mum insisted I had a few months ago when she was very poorly

She started to get better when I started to wear it so I won't take it off even though jewellery ain't my thing

In my head it transmits strength & energy from me to her

I know that is unlikely to be the case but, in moments of need, it's surprising what you will cling to

My first pair of moulded football boots was about 2 and my first england kit and a pic of my Gran all in a box in my few other bits of memory funnily enough I never kept anything of my kids.

"You must have some great memories playing with the guitar.

Doing gigs must have been such a buzz!

I can imagine the high coming off of a really great gig.

Or surviving a really bad gig!

A Teddy and a guitar that's a nice combination

I have a few personal items in a small box from my kids and my mum who died a while ago.

Other than that my cars and my watches, they've been gifts to myself for achieving my goals.

I love driving and can watch a good watch movement for seems like hours.

That generation were wonderful. My Grandma was hard as nails but soft as anything. She had a hip replacement under local anesthesia and afterwards she told me a blow by blow account of how they did the operation, she watched it on a monitor!!!

"Jewellery belonging to my Grandparents. Photos of my kids. Cards written by my Grandparents and other family members who are no longer with us, e.g. I have poems on handmade paper written at Christmas 1913 to my Dad's mum and her siblings, from an Aunt.

Wow..that is going back a few years!

How sweet is that..poems from the past!

I've saved a few cards too.

I have other documents going back even further, mainly birth/marriage/death certs, so not quite as exciting!

What do you think will happen to them after you?

I wonder that myself when I go through some of my stuff. "

I don't know. I'd like to think they'd be donated to a museum or something, but they might end up in the recycling

Sorry to hear about your mom x

My late husband loved watches. He bought himself a rolex when he accomplished what he'd set out to do.

Why not eh!....treat yourself, I know that I would!

My one pole one person mountain tent.. It's so light I can carry it up a mountain and wild camp in any weather. It goes together with my 4 seasons sleeping bag though so I couldn't choose between them!

I've had them for years and years and have had so many solo adventures in the wilds. Precious!

How awful for them.

Gorgeous memory to have with the books though.

Mine would be a doll my Nan gave me for my second Christmas

I have lots, I'm a very sentimental person. I have a family memory box, and a memory box for my husband and I. Loads of photographs, especially one of my nana and I when I was about 4, which is framed on my bedside table. I also have a few of her scarves and a jumper which still smells like her.

I don't have anything fancy but I keep lots of little stuff which mainly revolves around my little boy.

E.g. I had him for fathers day for the first time last Sunday (his mum and I are divorced) and I've kept the parking ticket(s) from where we went.

Things like that.
