No, not that one.

Alpha. It really grinds my gears, especially when people self-describe, only slightly less when other people ascribe it.

A theoretical term used to describe primate, feline or canine behaviour applied to humans, who are presumably above such ridiculous animalistic similes.

I have no problem at all with people who self-describe as confident, in control, competent and cooperative. These people do tend to make good leaders and colleagues and friends and humans.

There's something about that term though. It stinks of entitlement, bullying, unearned dominance, coercion.

Yes I agree. A is for alpha is for arsehole in my experience. Someone who is truly confident in themselves doesn’t need to advertise it.

Agreed. The word alpha on a profile is an instant delete for me.

You get it. Exactly. Real leaders (I'm not even gonna use that odious word again) do it by bringing people on board, including, involving. Not being the autocratic big I am.

The disturbing thing is how many people do fall for this shit and think, for instance, a horribly flawed politician is their answer purely because they say they are. One obvious orange example springs to mind in recent history.

Manchester (he/him)

The concept of ‘alphas’ had been soundly debunked by zoologists and wildlife biologists and anthropologists also denounce the concept as having any merit in humans.

In my experience, anyone using that word is elevating bullying aggressive traits to justify being an asshole, they also don’t understand the dynamics of human interactions

How is being an ‘Alpha’ benefit anyone in a modern world ?

Hunter, gatherer type …what he goes to Asda ?

He can control his emotions, only cries over football and forgetting the beers at Asda ?

He looks manly, hairy chest, tall beefcake big moustache …I know some bars in Manchester full of guys who look like that

He has power, money or influence…Donald Trump had that and is he your idea of Alpha
