East London

I only started suffering from allergies after taking a mild chemo drug years ago for arthritis.

Over the years the allergy has got worse, depending on where I am.

This year my nose feels like it has a hot hedgehog stuck up it and runs a lot in the morning.

What I found ironic is my grandson who usually suffers quite badly has no symptoms this year.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’ve been pretty bad recently with hayfever; Sneezing incessantly and my eyes are itching like mad.

Bizarrely, it’s even worse just after I come out of a shower (someone please explain this!?!) and at night

Blocked nose

Itchy eyes

Persistent cough and sneezing

Struggling to breath when out near fields of r@peseed.

Yep, welcome summer. I’m already on the tablets, nasal spray and eye drops.

I feel this year has been particularly hard though and it started earlier than usual for me. I’m hoping for more heavy rain as that helps.

Pollen, no. (not allergic)

Dust, yes, as it was so dry and arid. (very allergic).

I'm sneezing now, just thinking of it.

My hay-fever is usually awful but this year it seems to have been OK. I'm usually stratching my eyeballs out and searching for the stringy floppy bits that make them itch!

I've suffered for most of my life but the last couple of years havent been so bad. Either I'm growing out of it or the meds I've got are finally working.

Normal symptoms dont start for me until end of May, beginning of June but I was told to start taking my prescribed meds around April time and now I'm "almost" symptom free.

suffered chronic hay fever all my life, tried loads of different meds and injections nothing seemed to help but of course you don't know if it would be worse if not taking them, then 3 years ago tried the pirinase nasal spray and seems to work very well, have had a few attacks lately but while the covid has been on have been using pp3 grade masks that supposedly stop any virus getting through and out and have found wearing this gives rapid relief from hay fever , wear it for about half an hour then feel a lot better for quite some time, can also put some drops of obas oil on it to help clear airways.

This is a strange symptom, never heard of that!

I hate the raspy throat and generally the whole struggling to breathe. Must have sneezed a zillion times today and usually I feel better when it rains but no. Not today!

Do you all know exactly what ur allergic to? I know you can do a test to find out but never done one myself so I’m not sure which plant kills me. All I know is that it starts in may and ends in July…

Spoon full of Honey from a hive thats as local to you as you can get ,take it daily starting off in late autumn and by the following year you will gain a natural tolerance to the common local pollens in your are it wont cure your Hay-fever but you will suffer a whole lot less

Be careful you don't take too many. I got very told off by a nurse once when I said I'd taken 2 in a day. Very bad for you apparently

Yup, years ago my son took to many and at A&E they kept him waiting too long for some drink and he ended up with a 3 day hospital stay! Even the over the counter usual ones not good for you to take over the prescribed dosage!

The one thing I love about Covid is being able to go out and about wearing my N95 facemask without getting weird looks. A good, tight fitting face mask gives almost instantanious relief from all hayfeaver symptoms! Its especially good for situations like driving, where a prolonged sneezing fit can be dangerous!

My son has got it really bad this year. Some days he looks like hes been beaten up his etes are so swollen, and hes constantly sneezing. Our doctor prescribed him some tablets and suggested using eye drops and basal spray, hopefully there will be a big improvement soon. I feel so sorry for him.

I get this if there is wax touching the drum in my right ear. Don’t know why just that ear but it makes me cough while I remove it. I’m not a hay fever sufferer, so might just be coincidence.

I have antihistamines but not the one a day ones as one isn't enough and two make me tired, so the doctor gave me an old fashioned one that I take every 8hrs. I also have a nasal spray when it's bad and if it's really bad on my eyes then eye drops too

My hay-fever also makes my joints ache and affects my asthma so I have to up my inhalers too

Exactly the same as me, also as someone else has already pointed out that eating local honey helps to build up a little resistance to it, fortunately for me I keep my own bees so have an unlimited supply ????????????????????

This is a common misconception and it doesn't work..... Google it for full details about why its rubbish

Good excuse to eat honey though

Did you know that you can get nasal silicon inserts with micro filters: that slide up the nostrils and are connected by a mini strip that tethers them together?

Does any of this come in to consideration, when it comes to deciding, what trees are used on new housing estates?

Probably but not for hay-fever.

The London plane tree is known to drink a huge amount of water and survive well in polluted areas, that is why they are everywhere in London but they hive pollen and these nasty little hairs that get in your eyes, up your nose and stuck in your throat...

I've learnt something new today. Trees are bad for your nasal health. The ones behind my garden wall are 50ft tall and deny every ounce of daylight they can. Pushing my heating bills up. I have a South facing garden.

Trees do cause problems, it's time all councils realised that.
