Well it won't see much...nearly all spider's eyesight is terribly poor apart from jumping spiders.

Apart from the latter species, vision is not their primary sense.

There was an enormous one on my bedroom ceiling recently.

I could see it from the bed without my glasses on, thats how big it was

Exactly! I'm not scared of creepy crawlies but that was like a tarantula.
