Can anybody help with a question please.

Can a police man etc,

Choose their own numbers they have on their shoulders or not when they qualify?

Google is so confusing with this!

Thanks.

East Sussex

No idea but I wouldn't have thought so. I'm assuming with no actual knowledge that they're assigned a number. I've got family in the police force and they've never mentioned choosing their own number

"No! The numbers are allocated "

This and they are re used upon retirement. They are occasionally retired, when an officer is killed on duty for example.

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

No they can't. It's a work ID number and you get allocated what's available when you join.

However, I know of a son who joined and asked could he have his retired dad's number. It was available at that time so they allowed it.
