"Do we think that some of us have never lied - that some people are that virtuous? " But the reason behind the lie is the issue.

"Liars we are all liars - oh wait not all are liars "shock horror" People on here bang on about liars - and demand honesty - but ironically people actually do not want honesty, people would rather believe a lie than the truth, cos often it is easier to rationalise a lie than the actual truth. As such we are all liars even when we are not. Just a point of view " its a very good point and most ppl i know demand that but when you give it to them...they throw it back at you for telling them

"I've got a friend that lies to me and I really don't understand why. The lies are not anything that make any sense to lie about. It's sad because I realise but I just can't trust anything she says or does now, and will have to just kind of distance myself a little. " It's a problem some people have. My first husband was a compulsive liar, I literally couldn't believe anything he said in the end even something as simple as what he'd eaten for lunch. It's not possible to have a relationship with these people because there's nothing of any real substance to work with.

I know this lady values my friendship, but the lies she tells me make absolutely no sense. She ends up contradicting her own statements. I've never pulled her up on it but now I'm just starting to feel uncomfortable about being around her. They are silly lies that wouldn't affect either of us in any way and just seem absolutely strange to lie about.

"Women are far better liars than men, we are useless at it" Exactly, one of ma ex's was trying on a dress in a shop, she came out of the fitting room and said "Does ma bum look big in this"? "Yes Dear", I replied, "Yer bum looks big in everything"

It could be low self-esteem, a desire to make themselves feel better or look better to you, mental ill health or just that they enjoy you not knowing the truth because it gives them the upper hand. There was nothing to be gained from telling me that he'd had a sandwich for lunch when he'd actually had a pie but my ex still did it. Eventually you can't be in the relationship because you have no idea who you're actually with.

"We all lie, but it's the degree of lie that matters Yes there's lots of liars on fab, because lies get them more meets than the truth often. " That’s where I’ve been going wrong! Doh

"We all hate them don’t we? Unfortunately the wonderful technology of the Internet has made them legion. Sad isn’t it? What have they lied about? " Too many to list. But a lady I chatted to by phone this week was just after money . Not from here though. Met a guy in a nice house yesterday. When I left he texted for a loan though right after our meet he agreed that the lady and her like we’re not on!

Pointing out the lie is futile because they will look you dead in the eye and insist it's the truth. I laugh now at some of the whoppers he told. My parents didn't believe the full extent of the problem until he arrived at their house one day claiming to have comp!eyed a 25 mile journey in twenty minutes

My parents didn't believe the full extent of the problem until he arrived at their house one day claiming to have comp!eyed a 25 mile journey in twenty minutes My ex brother-in-law told whoppers as did a school friend. Unbelievable bullshit. I never knew why we didn’t call them out? But we tended to just go quiet and move on in conversation letting them believe we didn’t think they were lying." Yeah I think that's in part why these people continue lying, they're rarely called out on it. However, when they are challenged it doesn't stop them they believe that once they say something it becomes fact.
