How much damage do you think this sort of story / disgrace does to our faith in our police force to investigate crimes honestly...? I'm a bit at a loss for words having read the link. Sounds similar to the bad old days of the 70s... I thought we had moved on from the police being corrupt.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57484219

The story is about the botched investigation into the murder of Daniel Morgan and the 5 subsequent internal investigations.

I think recent events have proven they are as corrupt as ever.

Norwich

There is still more to come about certain police forces. Not corruption but letting victims down by not using more powers that they have.

What a shit show.

"I'm absolutely flabberghasted that Cressida Dick is still in her job"

It's been going on for decades in many forces.

Its hardly the responsibility of 1 person..its the whole culture.

What I was surprised to read was policemen who came forward to highlight issues have been disciplined or forced out..... It conjures images of that 70s film serpico. I don't doubt there are many good in amongst it but if the top brass are effectively bent and setting the culture its never going to get better until they root them out. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Really saddened to read it.

Reputational corruption is the new brown envelope corruption it seems.

Fascinating case would recommend the brothers book and podcast series. Phone hacking and the absolute worst of the tabloid press rear it’s ugly head.

If only it was as entertaining as Serpico. And your could switch it off. Sadly - for all affected - you can’t. It’s a shit-show indeed and a rather large sword of justice needs to be taken to the heads at the core of the Met. Not literally, of course.

Even if they do... They'll take early retirement due to ill health with full pension... Barely a punishment. Or am I talking shite..
