If you’re struggling or having a hard time, remember that you’re not on your own, there are people on here who know what you’re going through and are willing to give you time and support.

Reach out, don’t suffer in silence, talk to your GP, call your local crisis centre or one of the many free support services.

It was a few years ago that I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression, I realised that I was at crisis point and felt completely alien to myself, cut off from others, hopeless and out of control of even the small things in my life.

Not every day is easy, I have good days and bad but I’ve learnt how to manage it and life is much better.

No matter how bad you feel or how low you are, there are ways forwards.

With all of the uncertainty at the moment it feels as though we’re dancing on shifting sands and mental health is essential.

Let’s look out for each other

Great post OP, it's so important that we all keep talking about it.

I have my good days and bad ones but there is always hope if you ask for help. If you get through the darkest days, you are already stronger than you think you are.

Hope everyone is doing okay

On the hardest days, I just break things down into baby steps and celebrate the small victories. I find that it helps

I do this too. Acceptance helps a lot for me, instead of fighting the bad days I just accept them and allow myself to be what I need to for a little bit. It will always be a part of me but once you recognise the triggers, it's easily managed.

And well done for talking about it, hope your okay.

That’s very true as well. An awful lot of the time it’s pressure that we put on ourselves to be a certain way is half of the fight. Feeling how you feel and dropping expectations can be hugely helpful.

I’m doing okay, I hope that you are as well?

Suffered in the past, still do now and then.

My son does too. He's just had a baby and isn't coping. I got a message last night from his mum about it. I've blown a new job out today to go visit later. Stuff the mileage and time to get there. Family first.

I'd like to do an online course about it, but no idea which one to do. Have to be free, but I want to help.

Support your son and help where you can, just be careful with yourself and your situation as well. If you speak to your job about having a family emergency, hopefully they will understand.

I hope that you can give your son the help that he needs.

If you search for online courses and the specifics of what you want to learn, then that’s a good starting point

There are huge benefits. Research has shown that an unhealthy gut can directly affect your mental health.

Although it’s only one aspect, a healthy diet and helping your gut to be healthy and happy can have a very positive impact on your brain.

I class myself as a MH survivor...suffered with depression but got help from a Military Charity...never in myself. Gave me the tools needed.

Been depression free for 4 years now. Talking, fitness and looking after myself worked for me.

Running Brighton Marathon for MIND in Sept...

In your darkest days keep smiling...

If you google gut health related to mental health, you’ll get loads of info.

Don’t be tempted with those rubbish yakults though.

I have struggled with my mental health for years. I have very serious issues, including complex ptsd, ocd, psychosis and disassociation.

Tried everything, but nothing helps. No professional support available for free or low cost in my area, and I am on disability so can't afford to pay to see anyone.

At the moment, I am relying very heavily on family members to support me because that's all I have.

That’s horrible and I absolutely understand you feeling that way.

I don’t know what to recommend in your situation or how to offer support. I don’t want to offer vague platitudes as that can be more harmful than ignorance.

As random as it may seem. Have you tried contacting private services to see if they can take you on under referral?

Have you contacted your MP to ask for support or help in bringing your situation to light?

"I have struggled with my mental health for years.

I’m sorry to hear that. Is there no NHS support with your diagnosis?

No, nothing. They won't even let me see a psychiatrist once in a while, which is absolutely disgusting IMO.

It absolutely is, especially with your diagnosis. I know that many areas have limited services and waiting times can be long but that’s ridiculous

I know. I seriously think of just giving up completely because there seems to be no way out. Recently my psychotic episodes have been bad again and I am just very emotionally drained from having to deal with it all the time. I want it to end. "

I’m so sorry this is happening . I really hope you get the help and support you need.
