Sending messages

Personally I think it abit weird to send a first message that's really long and goes deep. A simple hi is enough to get the ball rolling. I know people on here want a message that had some thought go into it but what's the point if there no attraction

Surely that's a the point of a wink. I'd ignore a message that only said "hi".

A hi would get a delete from me wether a found them attractive or not

Hi OP I wouldn't want a long deep message as a first message but more than a hi for sure.

I like messages that show the person's read my profile and asked how I am. They won't know if there's an attraction from my end until I reply but that's the risk everyone takes when messaging someone. It's nice to demonstrate your not copying and pasting your message. I would show it to someone if I messaged them first xx

When I get sent a message, before opening I look at their profile and if I am not interested, I delete unread.

Some people ask for well thought out, individual messages initially. Usually they ask this of single men, I've never seen complaints about the quality of initial messages from single women of couples come to that.

If I was approached in a bar (a comparison often used on here) by someone I wouldn't expect their opening chat to be any more than "hi I'm X may I join you?"

Something in the middle between 'hi, wuu2' and war and peace is acceptable

I don't like lengthy, overly familiar or presumptuous messages where they detail every but of the meet we're definitely going to have.

A crucial part of attraction for us is how well we get on. That means we have to be able to have a conversation. A "Hi" message tells us absolutely nothing at all about whether we can have a conversation, so it's a guaranteed delete and there won't even be an opportunity to find out if there is any attraction.

Sending us a message which shows you have something to say is 99% certain to get a reply from. Then we can find out if we have good banter that brings attraction.

So the "Hi" approach is a guaranteed fail, at least with us.

You don't have to get long a deep but a few sentences is not exactly time consuming is it. I would never respond to 'hi' that just screams no chat or personality

If it works for you, excellent.

If it doesn’t work then see comments you have received on this thread and maybe put in more effort.

I was thinking the same thing as thinking of the initial message like approaching someone in a bar.

You probably wouldn't just walk up and just say 'hi' then stand there but 'Hi, I noticed you from across the crowded room and just had to come and talk to you. I'm X ...'

Then translate that into a message - 'Hi, out of all the women in the whole of Fab I just had to message you. I'm SpankingThomas769 ...'

Or just go with 'Hi, how you doin'?'.

I think it's at a point where I do not even bother sending msgs on here anymore.

The male to female ratio is just insane and it seems from a lot of status that women get 100s of msgs a day so honestly just don't see the point.
