EUROS DAY 3: Here come the LIONS

Day 3 ... already!!

Thankfully all appears to much improved with the Eriksen situation which was a real shock and fright yesterday, let’s hope that’s the only horrific moment of the championships and wish him all the best!

Great wins for Finland and Belgium in Group B yesterday and a creditable draw against a good Swiss side by the Welsh in Group A ...

BUT .. today it’s all about England isn’t it (ok, and a few others too!) and a re-run of that painful World Cup Semi from 3 years ago when England had one foot in the Final at half time, 1-0 up, before the inevitable ch oke broke all* of our hearts!

(*well, most of us anyway! and yes I had to break the word ch oke as the Fab filters don’t like it!)

Predictions? I’m going with:

ENGLAND 2-1 Croatia in the big 2pm Group D game (COME ON ENGLAND!!)

Group C:

Austria 3-0 N Macedonia 5pm

Netherlands 2-1 Ukraine 8pm

p.s. It’s COMING HOME!!

Pob lwc to the near neighbours.

I think you will edge it today possibly 2-0 , a goal in each half

Our record in the Euros is woeful so I’m keeping my excitement in check and going for a 1-1 draw.

I have that dreadful knot in my stomach, we’re such a poor tournament side.

Still we owe Croatia one, let’s hope Gareth gets the team right!

Just hope Gareth doesn’t set up too defensive.

Let’s take the game to them.

Play Foden Mount and Grealish behind Kane ,

Let them worry about us and not be too boring and predictable.

Rumours Trippier starts .. not long now until the team is announced!

Any more predictions?

We’re gonna lose, aren’t we? Would be bloody typical!

England will score first then retreat into their shell, allowing Croatia to equalise around the hour mark, both teams then cagily playing out a draw that they know suits them both fine. Linker calls it a credible result while Shearer reminds us don't forget the Croatias were world cup runners up 3 years ago.

On a side note I'd love to see them adopt the taking the knee as a goal celebration and then troll their way through the competition

We don’t tend to start many tournaments positively, so a draw is probably the best we can hope for!!

HT 0-0 but we’ve hit the post but gone a bit quiet in the last 15 mins.

Is it just me that’s nervous? Didn’t take the chances when on top, the subs could be critical. Give Grealish a good 30 or so mins and see what damage he can do?

Come on England!!!

"gonna be 0-0 this the heat has killed the game need some impact subs 2nd half"

Yep, think some decent subs could be the key, hopefully not with 5 mins to go, need to be given a decent run to make the difference

England want to put the ball in the net, which is a great approach to the game.

You put the ball in the net Clive and the rest takes care of itself.

Shoe in for man of the match, and the remake of Neneh Cherry's Manchild video.

Well that was decent - I’ll take the win and off to a flyer - given the format of the tournament just a point now in the next 2 games would still be enough to qualify for the knockout stages!

Decent performance in the heat and a first ever opening game in the Euro Finals!

Scotland tomorrow - then the big one on Friday!!
