I’ve always wanted to do it but never dared. Like the guy standing in a bus that I admire for 20 minutes. Would guys find it weird? How would I do it for best effect? I’m too shy to flirt or catch eyes so it would probably come as a surprise and then be too weird?

Ok....what to do is write your name and number on a small piece of paper.....walk up to him with a slight cheeky smile on your face......say "hi"...hand him the note but when your walking away.....throw a seductive yet subtle look back over your shoulder type thing.....

That will do the trick!!

Speaking for myself I would find it both exciting and tinged with a little trepidation, half expecting the number to be a pizza firm.

If you are at a bus stop for 20 minutes, handing your number and walking away would be odd, so follow him onto the bus and hand it to him as you get off the bus.

Morrison's must be the place! It's only ever happened to me once that someone has given me her phone number, and that was on Morrison's forecourt, as we were on opposite pumps getting petrol. She did actually start the conversation by commenting on the leather seats of my Jag XK convertible which had the roof down, and although I did meet up with her, and we had great fun, I couldn't help but wonder though if I would have had the same effect on her if I'd been driving a beaten up old Skoda.

I was on a works trip returning from Scandinavia and the air hostess passed me a hand written note from a group of ladies further down the plane with a mobile number and short message on it

I’d be extremely flattered if a woman approached me like that. I’d be attracted to her courage, drive and directness.

But the first thing I’d do after they’ve given me their hand-written note, is ask that person if they lived within 5 Miles. I’d not want to accept a number from anyone who wasn’t within a 75 sq/Mile area.

Knowing my luck she would have been a Vegan and given me a rolliking for have leather seats.

By the way I do drive a Skoda and that has leather seats.

I was handed a little letter one day on the bus on my way to work. The thing is he did it so fast and discreetly I didnt know what he looked like so I didnt phone him.

I done it once with a girl who got my train to work. We’d glance at each other often throughout the trip…I thought it was a given, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.

Anyway, long story short, I passed her my number one day.

She never rang

We’d still stare at each other on the platform/train.

A few months past and we bumped into each other on a different platform when I was going to the coast…we got chatting.

Turns out she was engaged. We spent the 2 hour journey chatting…when I left she handed me her number - we became friends.

So I tell myself that the one and only time I’ve done it worked….

Obviously I don’t need to do it now but surely what recent life has taught us is that it’s short and could change at any time, so seize the moment

I actually did something very similar. I'd been working in the same place for a while when I noticed an attractive woman who was in the next door property. She was there the same time as I, so one week I left a note on her windscreen, with my number and asked her if she'd care to go for a drink? A few hours later, her husband phoned and told me in no uncertain terms she was happily married!

Two things from this experience... 1 there is always the chance you may receive an irate phone call from a partner!

2. It made me think what I would have done in her situation? Felt flattered and thrown the paper away. Not sure I would have told a partner as it was inconsequential.
