Do you "hit on" people in real life?

Norwich

As in, in person, not online.

Online dating and connections appear to be the norm now and with changes to people's working patterns and social pursuits, it seems that old stool chat-ups rarely happen.

Do you do it? If not, why not? Do you get hit on? And by hit on, I don't mean scaffolders shouting "Oi oi!" as you walk past. I mean proper, Craig David 7 Days stuff.

I did it for the first time in ages just last week.

Woman in a nail salon ive had my eyes on since before the first lockdown and just waiting for the right opportunity to go in and say hello.

Turns out she's married so declined my approach, but I knew from the smile she gave me and the look in her her that it made her day

I don't think it is anymore. When you ask couples how they met, it's frequently online. They way people work has changed, nor just because of Covid but generally.

I would definitely flirt (a little) with someone I took a fancy too.

I’d probably be so subtle about it, that they’d more than likely scarcely realise. So then I’d just take my dick out and drop a note into their hand with the words “fancy a meet 2 night” on it in child-like Scribble. Hey presto!

I did once, I went up to a gorgeous blonde in the supermarket and said ‘Excuse me, has anyone every told you, you’re stood right in front of the Dairylea Lunchables?!’

Cut to 20 minutes later and I’m at home crying salty tears into a delicious cheesy dip of goodness.

FYI, I've only done it once in my entire life? When I was on my early 20s and d*unk. He was the barman of my local pub, so not a complete stranger.

I very very rarely get hit on but when I do, it's never anyone decent but rather weird creepy types.

No!!! 100% no!!!

I’ve never approached a woman in a bar or club, never made the first move in the vanilla world.

I’m not a confident person, anyone who’s met me IRL would 100% agree with that.

I flirt with people in the non-virtual world, I enjoy that, but you have to be extremely careful how you do that now. As such my “way” of flirting is being unashamedly honest and confidently flippant (that makes sense to me). Obviously the minefield of not causing offence or being “creepy” is challenging but I think I get it about right (mostly)

I've seen guys chat up women and get their numbers. It looks cringey for some reason. I can't really explain why though. One of the reasons was maybe because it was at the gym a couple of times. It ought to be an unwritten rule that the gym is off limits. But then the girls did offer their numbers so maybe it's fair game. I've never approached anyone before besides on the dance floor where no verbal communication is necessary.

I find it very easy to talk to people and cut to the chase very quickly. Not as in "do you want to fuck?" but as in "what interests you, what gets you going?"

I tend to be 0-60 in 2 seconds with conversations when it's about politics or culture or intellectual interests and on the occasions those interactions have got sexual, it's because it wasn't about sex.

Sex isn't about sex all the time. Sometimes it's just about how you vibe with people.

Imagine plucking up the courage to make a move on someone, getting to know them, having a date or 3 and finally getting them into bed, only to discover that he's one of *those* men who isn't very generous or talented in the oral department. At least on Fab you can cunt to the chase

Flirting yes, not saying its a talent it does not come easy to me. The dance floor is always good for making yourself approachable.

If I was out in a social setting and saw someone who I thought that I really like I would make an effort and introduce myself, I would dislike the regret of not knowing more than it not working out.

"Too much of a mine field these days, what you think as an attempt at chatting up could be seen as unwanted approach and creepy.

Easier online now.

Oooh no not at the gym! I wanna be left alone to be a hot, sweaty, red faced mess

"Do you ever find yourself admiring someone and wondering if they're a pro vag eater or at least a willing participant?

Imagine plucking up the courage to make a move on someone, getting to know them, having a date or 3 and finally getting them into bed, only to discover that he's one of *those* men who isn't very generous or talented in the oral department. At least on Fab you can cunt to the chase "

We got bored at work and discussed oral (boredom leads to sex talk) and right from the start one of the guys said he loves going down on a woman another said it was disgusting but he likes blow jobs - I pointed out the hypocrisy

Online chat is so much less embarrassing if you are ignored, it also puts less pressure on a women to respond.

Just remembered I have. A girl who worked behind the bar at a pub I drank in when I worked in Oxford. In the end it didn't go beyond the pub but she used to sneak me a free drink occasionally.

This, and fear of ballsing it up, the rejection and not having a clue how to.

I’m perfectly fine conversationally, but knowing when and how to to take it to the next stage …nah….!

Normally get a bit reserved and quiet if I actually fancy someone too

The last time I approached a woman in public and offered her my number (having told her I had been watching her for a few minutes and thought she was beautiful) , she told me it was “creepy”.

Since then I’ve decided that hitting on a woman in a public toilet is definitely fraught with the risk of an “innocent approach” getting twisted all out of context.

"Sex isn't about sex all the time. Sometimes it's just about how you vibe with people. "

Totally agree.

There's a lady at work who's seriously fun to be around. Not flirty so much, as just a wind up merchant. She's so far, been handed two customer telephone numbers, which she's binned, as she has a partner.

Unfortunately, I've never had the courage to give anyone my telephone number. Though, waiting on one lady from work, to leave at the end of the month, and just before, may just hand her my telephone number and run lol.

Though, I gave a bunch of flowers to a solicitors receptionist, after accidently winding her up....with no contact details of mine as I was too embarrassed. That was many moons ago.

Not for ages with lockdown but yea absolutely.

See plenty of others doing it too (mostly in bars). If there are 2/3 ladies alone you can almost guarantee some fella or a few lads will have approached them by the end of the night.

Out and about, I'd smile at people shopping and say hello, sometimes just to be nice and other times because I like the look of them. Think it's good to say hello to people and wish them a nice day, costs you nothing and can make someone's day especial after the last year and a half!!!

Yet find online easier ? . Perhaps rejection online easier to handle ? . Yet I would rather chat etc in person , than online. See persons face and reaction to what I say to them.
