In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Several times. Because I'm posh, innit.

I once had to buy a skirt and shoes because we randomly decided to go for afternoon tea at the Savoy and they wouldn't let me in wearing jeans

You mean you didn't have a skirt and heels in your bag 'just in case'

Such a commoner.

We took my parents to a very posh hotel round here for afternoon tea at Christmas one year. It was a surprise and when we drove up and were greeted by a liveried doorman my mum cried. It was really lovely

Had some lovely afternoon teas but one of the best I have had is actually in Coventry at Coombe abbey. They do a savoury afternoon tea and it’s so good!

Yes, all over the world, in some pretty wow places.

It's all down to the company though - K is taking me for afternoon tea in a couple of weeks and that is going to be the best ever

I love afternoon tea, there's a company in Cornwall who deliver, so we grab our bags and take it down to the beach and eat it looking out at the sea.

I have done, a few times and I love it.

Have to say though, the best afternoon tea for me was in Cornwall, by the sea, warm scones, it wasn’t posh at all, but it was so lovely.

My friend had their wedding reception at The Ritz. It was afternoon tea for just the bride, groom & their children. The photos were gorgeous. It’s on my to do list

Back where I belong

I had an afternoon champagne tea at a local posh golf club. The champagne was very welcome as I don't drink tea or coffee. The finger sandwiches and little cakes were yummy and even the weather was gorgeous

We used to put it on for our local elderly once a month and I enjoyed a pleasant few at stately home tourist visits

Beverley

Like OP tried Claridges, very nice, we were staying there for a few nights before heading off on the Orient Express to Venice so it set scene nicely as did the Bentley from the hotel to the Railway Station.

Some of the best afternoon tea is to be found in the former Colonies. They’ve carried on the tradition and many of their top hotels use it as a selling point and they are very popular indeed.

I love afternoon tea.

The best place I've been so far, was at Crook Hall just outside Durham city centre. We felt a bit underdressed

Not a fancy one but some good quality, more rustic ones.

So true. Worth a trip just for that. It's easy enough to do a weekend to some places.
