For example there is someone I have been interested in for a while and I told her, we have been friends for a few years and well to cut a long story short, I felt that she needed to know that my feelings had developed. She was nice about it, but ultimately didn’t appear interested.

So I did the right thing, I stepped right back, was always there as a friend but reduced our contact from almost daily to occasionally.

Recently she messaged me, and as usual we were laughing and joking via text with her throwing insults my way. So I said “why do you always feel the need to insult me eh?”

She replied “it’s like punching girls at school, it means I like you, I will stop. Immediately”

So where does one go with that? I could read it both ways but the reality is, she isn’t interested in me as anything more than a friend. It is only my desires that read more into it.

So OP (phew what a lot of waffle) I think until someone states it explicitly, you should play it cool.
