My one regret

Secret hideaway in the pennines

It been a bit of a contemplative day today, been sat in the park in the sun, watching dad's play with their kids and it made me realise that that is probably my biggest regret.

I have never been lucky enough to be a dad, and now I'm at that point where it wouldn't be fair to start now.

Well ma Dad didn't have me until he was 48, in ma youth I said I was never gonna get married until I was 28. Although I've had long term relationships in the past, I've never got married, nor do I have any kids. I suppose it would have been nice for someone to call me Daddy, but it's a bit too late at my stage of life to start hunting down nubile young females and impregnate them now

I used to love it when an ex's son asked if we could babysit for the weekend, at least we could give him back on a Sunday night and normality was resumed, although it took me about 2 days to clean up all the debris and trail of destruction he left behind

Says a lot about you that this bothers you. Good man.

Have you a local children's group you could volunteer at? You could be Santa? Or just read stories?

Ma Mam was married to someone else before she met ma Dad, and she had one stillborn, and another who died shortly after birth, I do have a half Brother who emigrated to Australia with his Dad before I was born.

I'm so very sorry to read about that. It's our personal nightmare and I feel physically sick thinking about it.

Sorry to hear that Mr Coulson, but alcohol only clouds the issue, I've taken to drink in some of my darkest days, it doesn't resolve anything though.

We're all here if you need us

And you too Phil. Not ignoring your pain mate, I just missed your post before! As a father that's my worst fear and I can't begin to imagine your loss! I seriously admire your strength in putting yourself back together and then sharing like that!

Sending you a huge imaginary man hug!
