Am I a time waster? Chatting with someone who wants to meet and yes she is local(30miles) but for me to arrange a meet i have so much to organise...son..work..

So I've kinda ignored her messages...because she might think im a time waster....actually fuck this thread im gonna tell her now why I go slow in organising a meet ...x

Keeping the thread more serious than actually intended.

Making time for meets is never as easy for some as it may be for others. For some it may be a case of a total schedule nightmare and we should all accept that.

If I'm interested in somebody I am interested in them as a person also, so I'm happy to wait as long as it takes to be honest.

Time wasters to me are more constant arrange and then cancel, or just being stood up. As I don't see getting to know somebody I like as a waste of time, even if at the end nothing happened.

I like to think I'd be treated with the same respect.

This ^^^ I have to arrange things around work and kids so sometimes it can take a while for me to actually say yes I'm free such and such a date, if the person is interested they'll understand.

Timewasting for me is arranging plans and then cancelling repeatedly with no explanation (admittedly I've had to in the past but always explain) or just being vague about actually wanting to etc x

If someone did that to me I probably wouldn't have my heart in it after that.

We all have lives, commitments so I wouldn't understand why that resulted in being ignored

If you're genuinely interested in potentially meeting, it's not wasting another's time to chat. If you have months to wait before meeting, you could explain that up front - otherwise few want pressure to meet quickly. Most of us have other things that are higher priority, so there will be a delay.

Part of getting to find matching others is going to include expectations, including availability etc.

Don’t be so afraid of labels that others are so quick to hand out.

Just be careful and honest with those you’re chatting to, respect them and yourself and you won’t go far wrong.

If you’re struggling for time; say, if you’re nervous; express it and if you need to slow down; tell them.

We’re all people, have demands and needs away from here. If they can’t respect that, then they weren’t worth meeting in the first place.

Just as a side note, the longest that I’ve ever chatted to someone before meeting was 11 months before we found time, it happens, there’s no time frame other than what you both want

I’ve been working 4x nights a week Friday to Monday since December so even making time to see my friends for socialising is hard. Tuesday to Thursday evenings are my only evenings with my daughter as she’s either with her dad or my mum for me to work and then she’s in school in the day. I wouldn’t use one of my evenings with my daughter to meet some random guy from here so I don’t even know how I’d fit someone in.

I’m in the same boat. Especially working in care, my job is demanding enough. My only time I have off I’d much rather relax with my kids then meet a stranger.

Real life definitely gets in the way of fab life. A lot of people seem to like to meet when their kids are at school but unfortunately that's exactly when I'm at work so no can do there either.
