Important.

It has come to my attention that one of our southern members of the community (I shall withhold names to save them the shame) has never heard of "Chippy tits".

I was under the impression that it was a UK thing. Now I'm questioning if it is just a northern or even just a North West thing.

This needs to be confirmed before the world can return to normal.

I've heard Joe Anderson referred to as chippy tits and never got why (I'm dim enough to think it was related to having a chip on one's shoulder!).

Now I get why but as a fat bird myself I don't really like it and it's not an insult I'd use. Glass houses and all that.

I've only ever known it as a friendly banter "insult", again as I said further up more to do with the love one has for take away food - but yes the fat insult is also in there too I guess.

I am 71 years young, born in NW near Bolton, moved to London in 1970, never heard the term. Must be a new term, I know the term Chippy relates to the Chip Shop though, oh to be young again

No idea. Other than it might be linked to dietary habits? “Evidence” in the forum thread so far was that it was not a regional thing. So suggested another possibility?
