"Cardio cardio cardio. Try core/abs HIIT workouts Reduce wheat intake - bread especially - or any complex carb Cut down on sugar Reduce fat in diet (not remove) " There's not much to add to that other than a bit of self discipline. That's the hardest part for most

"Think my issue is living alone. I love food but hate being fat, so every now n then i will lose a couple of stone and im quite regimental and good at losing it. However since i seperated 9 months ago, i just cant do it, its like i want to but there is no target or reward for doing it. Its tough but need to find a way." Make your health and your own happiness your reward. Or learn to enjoy/accept being fat?

"Eating less and lifting weights is the best way to go " The latter is easy, the former is where I fail badly.

"There's only one correct answer to this. Put yourself into a moderate calorie deficit. That's it. Plain and simple. How you do it is up to you. Exercise or no exercise. Bread or no bread. It doesn't matter. If you are in a calorie deficit (meaning your intake is a few hundred less that your maintenance cals) you WILL lose weight. " Brilliant !!

Being alone makes it easier as you are in control of what you buy.

The maths is correct but take care of nutrition. a varied and healthy diet is still needed.

"I've lost 2 stone since January. I was working out regularly (weights) but ended up with a problem with my knee which I assume is because my form is poor, I think I need to see a personal trainer because I actually really enjoyed it. The bit I struggle most with is making sure I'm eating well...I can easily go a day without proper nutrition but that impacts my ability to exercise as well as being downright unhealthy. I find it incredibly difficult to know what to eat, when and how much without it intruding on my life to the point it becomes obsessive. " You’re not alone! I have a predilection for biscuits - although I know they’re wrong. I have lost 3 stone since a couple of years ago and have done it by eating totally normally, with a few snacks/treats here and there as I fancy, and working out. There are some really good low impact HIIT workouts I can share with you if you wish. Well done on losing 2 stones - wow!

"Its just occurred to me that i was diagnosed with being on the cusp of thyroid just before lockdown. I was given medication, but didnt want to take it because i was just in the acceptable range.. I wonder if it has deteriorated and that is why despite walking 7-10km daily I'm actually putting on weight, not loosing it? Or maybe it's just my age You probably added muscle

That's how I've lost it this time, I eat normally just a little less and move more. I've spent years doing every 'diet' known to man but always piled it back on plus a bit because it wasn't sustainable. Cheese is my nemesis! If there's any in the house it'll find it's way to my mouth
