Wet Beaver Creek

Have to admit that I've never been much of a reader, but I'm soon to start a new job which will involve long periods driving, so I'm thinking of trying an audio book as an alternative to the radio or cd's.

I'm thinking of sampling some historical fiction, maybe start with some classic material.

Any tips?

Id find that incredibly distracting whilst driving, paying attention to the plot/story line whilst navigating busy roads and traffic. .. im pants at multi tasking at the best of times though lol

I have done that when I had a 45 min drive there and back! It was great though the roads were not busy in town ones! I got to listen to books I never would have read buy could easily listen too! Including the thornbirds and Schindlers list which did have me balling my eyes out Iusy admit lol

I'm in the position where I either listren to books or read them in Braille. I used to read loads of books before my accident. I really dislike audio books but have little choice, but I have listerned to books I would never have read otherwise one being the art of war by sun Tzu

Make sure you can hear a sample of the reader first, you can hear these on itunes for several titles. Some of the voices are really irritating... others are really boring, so find one you like or it can ruin the experience

Nick Cave reading 'The Death of Bunny Munroe' is excellent

I'm a fan of Raymond E Feist Nd have read all his books, however, i downloaded an audio book and it Just wasn't the same. Kind of like a movie I watched, Polish dubbed in to English and the same guy voiced over every character.

Radio 4 plays are good, least they have a cast of different people.

Think I've spent too much time in the car... 35 and listening to Radio 4 plays...
