I could be wrong but I think its because its pride mouth and some people (not necessarily the OP because I am guessing at the motive for the thread) believe there should also be straight pride.

I think this is likely the reason. Usually when it pops up for those reasons, the person stating "straight pride" does not fully understand what and why PRIDE is a thing. Which is funny, because that in itself is one of the reasons it is a thing.

I'm straight, mostly, but it's not something I draw a sense of pride from, it just is. It's like saying I'm proud for having a nose, or proud of being right handed. Until I'm persecuted or oppressed for being heterosexual I see absolutely no need to consciously consider my sexuality as a source of personal pride.

The op has 11 other months to celebrate her sexual orientation and post this thread (not saying LBGTQA+ members can't celebrate their sexuality outside of June before the pedents start circling!).

If I'm remembering her previous posts correctly then her motive is mot straight pride. She knows what she is doing.

To discuss how 'glad' they are to be straight?

You can play the devil's advocate here all you like but timing and wording speak volumes.

Just today there have been numerous threads started by (mainly) men discussing specific women they want to fuck. Pretty predominantly straight threads I'd say.

Plus is it not the point of pride month to challenge attitudes like being 'glad' to be straight as if being bi/gay or any other orientation was a bad thing?

I’ve never had to come out and tell my family that I’m straight, unlike I’m assuming a majority of gay/bi people had to do rather nervously not knowing the reaction. So no us straight people don’t need a straight pride, and I hope for the day that everyone is looked at and treated with equality

Hi I am a straight guy and proud.I would however like to say that when I was receiving plenty of messages from tv / ts and bi that I started to question my sexuality it was the good advice of some of the tv / ts and bi community that I was able to fully understand what it was that made them think I maybe bi.So a big thank you from me to all LBGTQA+ and enjoy Pride week.

When I do a bi women thread I don’t get all the straight women filling up the thread with their opinions. Whether I agree with the thread or the timing of it or not I don’t think there’s a need for a lot of these comments. She may not have done the thread to wind people up. She may have. I’d rather give people the benefit of the doubt.

Wouldn’t necessarily say I’m proud to be straight, I just am straight, but I haven’t faced the many challenges others have faced for being born with a different preference, so I may be way off here, but I don’t need to celebrate my straight sexuality as it’s never been under ridicule.. in my head I make sense lol

That you generalise something about something in your past that you are projecting on me.

You talk a lot of shit lol projection.... Pavlov.... Twit ire

Semantics I'll agree with.

I have read the op and defined the word 'glad' used in the context it was to mean thankful they are not gay. I based this on knowing the op's stance on bi men from numerous posts she's made before. Couple that with the timing I'm fairly confident of the intentions of this post. If the OP chooses to come back and clarify to price me wrong I will humbly apologise.

You didn't answer my question. My question related to the use of the word glad in the op. I didn't ask what glad meant to you.

Having been negatively judged by the OP in the past as a woman hater who only likes men then I am quite certain that the OP very much meant to post this and would presume her purposes were perfectly timed on her part.

I have seen her posts regarding her past and do understand why her views are the way they are but find it very saddening that one person I her life has hurt her that badly that anyone who is like that person is a wrong un.

Please OP, the actions of one does not have any bearing on what others are like and I do hope that one day you will get past this.

Nobody here is straight bashing and certainly not me, I dont care what anyones sexuality is, all I care about is that people have empathy for their fellow human being

Maybeeeeeee (just maybe) the OP is glad she's straight because it's less work than being a greedy bastard like some of us on here ? Orrrr she could actually just be an idiot, which based on some of the other dribble I've seen her comment on here, seems like the more plausible answer.

On the point of " straight people having 11 other months to celebrate their sexuality" I think that's an absolute piss take of a comment. Everyone should be entitled to be happy and open whenever they feel like it

We have yes, I do understand your point of view and it did mark itself clearly to me.

What would be in the favour of those who would like to clearly make the choice of the sexuality of those you wish to play with would be that those of a bi persuasion felt no discourse towards themselves and then they wouldn't need to lie and be 'fab straight'

As I said, it's acceptance of all of who we all are that will make everything better for everyone, not fighting between ourselves and then there would be no need for anything to be a celebration of one thing or another as none of it would need to be recognised.

No, you get all of the straight men hijacking it, turning our sexualities into a fetish.

Op, good on you for being "proud" of being straight. I'm not "proud" of my sexuality (I'm bi), because it's not an achievement, it's who I am.

Pride represents the pride of queer and straight folk who stood up for eachother against years of violence. We are PROUD of people who achieve something, in this case, defending other human beings for being themselves. Not because they are gay.

Fucking hell, get over it already. Shocking choice of words, Op. Really.

"Find it odd that if there is a thread around bi subjects, straight people never comment.

Have a straight thread and it is full of bi people hi jacking it.

Are people who are straight not allowed a thread to discuss their thoughts/needs?

Interesting?

Wonder what the site thinks?

To discuss how 'glad' they are to be straight?

You can play the devil's advocate here all you like but timing and wording speak volumes.

There are countless threads where straight people discuss having straight sex.... Thousands of them.

Most of them hi jacked, as for timing and words.....semantics also speak volumes.

Most straight sex threads hi jacked! By who?

Think you would have to search through them for name, start with this one.

How has this been hi jacked?

The OP was very vague and just said I'm glad to be straight who's with me.

Many aren't and thats ok because the OP is very general and open to comments.

Depends how you read it. I read it differently to you. I read it as she’s asking straight people to comment.

Really.

Her "

My apologies. You aren't proud. You are glad.

Missing out a world of fun girl

There are times in the past when I've started trans themed threads and basically been told to fuck off and die by some of the cis straight people. Several years ago when I started an article about Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) which is the one day a year that trans people across the world reflect upon the murders and other attacks on trans people just because of them being trans, there were a hell of a lot of voices attacking me because of "all lives matter". Telling me that I was the bigot for "excluding" all the cis people. I'm sure that I'll get some comment here just for using the word "cis" - anyone offended by it, grow up and act like an adult, cis means nothing but "opposite of trans", and there's no way that I'm going to refer to you as "just normal" people as if I'm somehow abnormal.

So yeah, I have no patience whatsoever for straight people trying to hijack events that exist to highlight and give public voice to all those of other sexualities. Same as I have no patience for white people that say they are excluded by Black Lives Matter. And I am completely out of fucks to give about anyone who claims they are being discriminated against by the existence of trans people.

As someone that has run into the OP before and seen her other posts over time, she was fully aware of what she was doing here and this thread was definitely not intended as a friendly 'straight people have a friendly chat' type post.

I mean what did you honestly think was going to be posted here? What could straight people honestly have to stand up and be counted for?

I do think this post was poorly timed and would have been better of asking if you're proud to be you instead of making it about sexual orientation.

Also it's about time people didn't have a issue with who someone else is sleeping with because it doesn't make a difference in their life.

The inclusiveness according to how you should feel because it is a celebration I get it. How can someone who does not understand that lifestyle support that message without having to be shunned. If white month or straight month was enacted alot would lose their minds. I support all but we are divided over inclusiveness.

No as a straight man that is entirely OK to like bi women, what most will see that it's not OK to be is derogatory to anyone who is bi (male) gay, queer, trans, non binary or whatever they happen to be.

This month is there to give credence to those in minority groups and who are marginalised by some sections of society, its not about bashing straight people at all.

What it is in fact is to bring ALL genders and sexualities together, not divide.

Its not a hard concept to grasp.

Okehampton

And it was discovered in the early years of the 21st century that the end of the world was not brought about by a virus or the outbreak of nuclear war, but by the firm belief that the labels people gave themselves to define their “identity” fractured society, rather than given strength, which one supposes they had originally be conceived to do, they instead made us forget the most important label of all; humanity.

It was then that we discovered that we were a one-dimensional society, living in a three-dimensional world and the whispered truth was lost; “I don’t care”

When you give yourself a label, you limit yourself in a thousand ways, imagine a world where we were just people, I’d like to live in that world.

Why is it a “social grenade” though? Is it not okay to be “glad to be straight” I admit the word “glad” has implications... but maybe if the OP had said “happy” or “proud” that would have had connotations too.

No it’s not, yet (despite its motive) it was about straight sexuality, is this thread about this?

Simple yes or no will do!

No.

It wasn't about straight sexuality and that is what you have failed to see.

Outside the personal issue, what’s wrong with being proud of being straight.

And don’t you just love acronyms.

wasaocm"

You cannot just disregard an issue to steer a debate your way, that's not how things work.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of anything and if being proud of your sexuality makes you feel good than I'm happy for you. What you then cannot do is try to deride anyone who is proud of their non straight sexuality as it doesn't fit in with your ideals.

As has been said above, the reason it is called PRIDE month isn't to celebrate not being straight, it's to celebrate diversity and to recognise the struggle that so many have had to endure to be equal and in many circumstances give their life for so if you think that it shouldn't have a part in our daily life then is that also something you are proud of, not letting those who need a voice have one?

"I'm glad things are changing. They need to.

I'll keep working on it."

It’s memetics, and from my perspective, there has to be massive balance, and at this moment there isn’t.

Spiral dynamics gives hints not an answer,

Yet this thread was amusing.

Now for straight people, what do you think about sexual stereotyping?

Goodnight.
