"Happy with the amber. 10 days working from home will be fine by me. " You can bring it down to 5 days with a negative test. We are happy to travel to amber as well We are both fully vaccinated, can't do anymore

"My understanding is you should only travel to Amber countries for essential reasons and not for leisure. A friend was going to go to Spain next week as thought it would be fine as you can go just Quarantine and test on return, she has now cancelled though because it is against government advise to travel to amber countries and her travel insurance would be null and void so that's something to consider. " Some companies will insure you, it's just a case of shopping around. Its governments advise, then you are free to make your own choices

You can get cover for leisure but if you need to claim because of covid so for example you test positive before your flight home you are not covered.

People booked holidays knowing the risks and uncertainty then while on holiday the rules changed and they moaned and blamed the government and holiday companies who couldn't get them home.

And that's the risk people are prepared to take, each to their own" It's a big risk. If you get ill in a foreign country and your insurance decides you're not covered, the resulting bills can bankrupt many people (talking travel insurance in general here, not just regarding covid and the last 18 months). It's not just a case of having to pay for a new air ticket, or for a few prescriptions; in some countries a heart attack or a car accident could result in bills to the tune of hundreds of thousands. However as you say, each to their own, even if it might wipe out their life savings and make their family homeless...

We are happy to travel to amber as well We are both fully vaccinated, can't do anymore " 5 days plus 48 hours test results is 7 days so only 3 days earlier than actual quarantine. Although I just checked the .gov site and some companies do 24 hr turnaround so maybe that would be worth it. Thank you for making me look it up again.

"Let’s give up summer to save Christmas... we fell for that last year so let’s try it again I didn’t have a summer or a Christmas last year. " Stayed in to save summer last March, stayed in with the autumn lockdown to save Christmas, stayed in over Christmas to save spring, stayed in spring to save summer.... and around and around we go. Lies lies lies. Get the vaccine for holidays abroad this summer... the vaccine status has no bearing on you travelling, you can go out, but don't go out. Last year people was allowed to travel unvaccinated with no tests. This year we've both had 2 jabs, ready to abide by the traffic light system, yet unable to travel. It was all about saving the nhs, but now about been controlled. Enough, let me off this merry go round!!!

"You can go to Gibraltar and cross the border, I'm not saying anyone should but it is possible" But you would have to declare on return that you had been to Spain and would need to quarantine, unless you stayed in Gibraltar for ten days after your trip to Spain

When I flew back from Sicily last August, we were in a queue with people from Spain which had been declared a country to quarantine from ( Italy wasnt ). The airport staff were just asking us which flight we had been on and if people said from Italy they weren't checking. They didn't even check if we had done the paperwork xx

It was said last year we extend lockdown to save Christmas, that went tits up, it was said in lockdown that they would try save spring, then it was extended to summer. False hope, misleading information. It's not just holidays, people need to see family abroad, they have other business in other countries, it's made so difficult for them, its upsetting to see.
