If someone needs to find out information not previously known to them then it has to be looked up , so wether it be by phone , laptop , book or whatever it doesn't make a person less intelligent because they looked it up .

A thirst for knowledge is a good thing , how the knowledge is obtained is irrelevant imo

Very much this.

Potentially there is a case for since we always have that info at our fingertips in a way people never did before, we have less reason to absorb and fully remember such information.

However as said, it is a learning tool that is to be used, just as a book or ancient scroll. It is a vast and pretty much limitless space of knowledge we can learn from like never before.

I am able to learn skills, at my fingertips, that my parents and grandparents would never have even been able to have the opportunity to even know existed nevermind learn for themselves.

Smartphones give you easy access to almost the sum of human learning.

I use mine to look at pictures of cats and get into arguments with strangers. And porn.
