Morning all does success in life mean money not for me you need money to survive course you do but not b all and end all right or wrong ?

Not at all. Success in life is achieved when a person/couple/family is intrinsically happy with their lot.

^ this. Everyone’s personal definition of success will be different.

For some fame and fortune will be key.

For others a happy and coherent family.

For others again a healthy and stress free existence etc etc

Money helps for sure to provide security in the middle of all that but it’s not the be all and end all

I've been at the point in my life where I've literally been selling clothing to eat and I'll tell you something for nothing, money buys happiness. When you can go in to do your food shop and not worry about whether or not you NEED to buy meat that week is a happy feeling. Money=security=happiness

Happiness, gratitude and a feeling of calm are all states of the mind, and to me they equate to success.

I depends on what you want out of life, money a happiness don't always go hand in hand but for some it is the only way to be happy - like attention from others being popular, feeling of superiority, although it could just be an illusion.

Give those who want everything handed to them on a plate and do nothing for it something to moan about.

Does money ever bring true friendship?

Me I have travelled the world, enjoyed the high-life and reasonable wad one may say, but my happiest times are with my other OH and our camper, round fire pit , snuggled with glass of wine and watching the sun go down. Last thing looking for couple of pooches do completely the picture

Simple things people seem to overlook - that's just me

And we've been poor and ok for money. Being ok for money is waaay easier than being poor. Of course you can be poor and happy but it's a darn sight easier to be happy when you're not worrying about buying food, buying shoes for the kids and paying rent or mortgage.

If success is achieving some sort of level of security and peace of mind, money helps.

Success is usually fame, wealth or social status. That is if you value those things. If you are happy in your life then you are just happy. Doesn't mean you are necessarily successful. I am happy, always have money in the bank, have good friends and family and love my job. That doesn't make me successful. Just makes me feel fortunate and grateful. For me success is the goals in life you choose and something that you decide you are going to aim for and you reach they goals

Success for me is making a positive difference to others. And others thinking you are a nice chap.

I make money not out of success but the need to be comfortable after having fuck all. I guess I have succeeded over the past in that respect.

Success is very subjective, whereas happiness can be measured - engaged in highly enjoyable activities where time speeds up (flow), socially interconnected, believing in something bigger than self and contributing to something. You can achieve all that and be financially poor , many of the happiest people I know have very little and what they do have they often give away.

The happiest times in my life were when I had small kids , no money as was at uni still and used to take them camping or save the tokens out the newspaper and go on £5 holidays ! I tried never to go into actual debt , and always save a small amount each month, I think that debt robs so many people of happiness
