It can and does takes years to recover from the trauma cheating brings. Some people never recover. They lose the ability to trust or to love again. It destroys families. It is never OK.

I try not to judge, but I don't usually meet cheaters as it's not an attractive quality in a person.

I have an agreement with my husband that I can be on here. What I do and with who is completely up to me and none of his business, but I wouldn't be on here if I he didn't agree to let me join up. Xx

We have an open relationship, meet independently and discuss any meets with each other (so not cheating our end).

We wont meet people who we know are actually cheating though. We don't think it's very nice and we don't want dragging into other peoples relationship drama.

We are very open, honest and would both stop this tomorrow if one of us wanted to put an end to it. Ergo, if you'll lie to your spouse and treat them so badly, why would we want to go anywhere near someone like that? You can make all the excuses and reasons you want about it but you're the one

cheating, not us.

Maybe their partner never instigates sex first on top of that and always feels like they are forcing their partner to do it which they find doing uncomfortable.

But as sex is only a part of a relationship yet the other side of the relationship is absolutely fine.

I am not judging anybody for what they are doing, it is not my business and you never quite know the circumstances anyway.

But... to me cheating does not start the moment you involve genitals but it starts the moment you have having conversations/ texts/ calls with somebody that you are keeping from your partner.

I'm no spring chicken either but as an open marriage couple of 25 years we know for a fact the second we start lying to each other about what we do or hiding meets, its game over.

We both where cheated on before we met each other by people we where engaged to. Glad we where as it led us to each other but having been on the receiving end of it, we know how we feel about it.

Maybe that's because in my experience complicated situations become much simpler with open and honest communication... Even if its uncomfortable at at the time... I call it radical honesty, say what you want, speak your truth people will deal with it or not, it's really not as complicated as people make it with all there half truths, subterfuge, and blatant lies.... That's what causes the vast majority of complications

I do not meet people who are attached as I do not want to be involved in any drama, imagined or otherwise. But having worked with more couples and individuals than I can remember in a previous career, I dare say there are reasons why relationships go pear shaped.

it is not always somebody's fault. Communication is not always easy but a skill that for many needs to be learnt and continuously improved.

I did not see last night's threads on this but I do not understand why people need to make it their business to judge other people who in the former people's eyes cheat.

The thing I am most concerned about other people cheating in a relationship is that it doesn't involve me, I've no intention of having a angry wife/partner take out her frustrations about her husband/partner on me because she blames me not him

For radical honesty to be effective in a relationship everyone in that relationship needs to be radically honest. That is far more difficult than it sounds, even basic honesty can be hard to achieve.

The big issue that I have with cheating is that when children are involved, it can cause severe long term damage to people who are innocent.

I get that it's not black and white. But speaking as a child who witnessed a horrific breakup due to cheating, and still carry the psychological scars...

What fucking right did my parents have to put me through that just because they were selfish human beings who didn't stop to consider the consequences of their actions?

I personally think like everything there are two sides to a story/argument. I think cheating long term with the same person is worse than a one off as it generally means whoever you are cheating with you are heavily involved with and probably even start to love more than just for sexual desire. The risks and the thrill of it probably keep people doing it, a bit like the risks and the thrill from being caught out on here, it’s all fantasy land. Each to their own so they say, even if my hubby let me go my own way with a blokey I’d probably think hmmmm... why is he letting me ... he’s obvs got a bird on the side ... so you can’t win hahah x
